Have you tried this? I think it's brilliant!
I have tried lots of software guitar amp simulations (Amplitube, Guitar Rig, GreenMachine, Simulanalog.....)
But IMO CORTEX beats all of them (specially in HeavyAmp setting), in terms of clarity and bass response!
And what a nice idea the mix of different speaker simulations! You can really tune your sound in a very detailed and colorful way!

Your opinions?

amplitube, guitar rig and simulanalog is much better than cortex, for hi-gain riff, guitar rig is the best.

Vaseli, I love Guitar Rig too, it's my favorite until now but... did you really spend some time with this thing - cortex? It needs some tweaking to reveal its beauty...
cheers!

Did you try Tubester?

I'm impresed with the dist tone and the  sustain

Yes, I tried Tubester, Raya- I am also impressed with the sustain, but I found the tone a little harsh for my tastes... What do you think about cortex?

Post

Very dificult to dial the tone you want, just move the cab faders presiocely is hard and too much variations.

The cpu is high too.

But it IS impresive too.

Cortex sounds to my ears way better than any other vst amp sim I ever tried :-D

I'm convinced you haven't got a clue what you are taklking about... :)

Yes, you are right, it needs some patience to dial the right tone. Obviously a proper interface would help, but it seems to me that some very good distortion algorithms lie inside this little thing...
I mean, man, I got some tones out of it that I couldn't possibly get out of Guitar Rig...

here is my demo of guitar rig (700kb-just few riffs)
tell me what do you think...

This effect is an utter animal, and i love it like a little bunny rabbit i might encounter on an evening stroll. Or a quokka, even.

It really does have a character of its own, but it makes me want to switch to lighter gauge guitar strings as my heavy gauge strings tend to annoy it. :)
