I was thinking...how many of you use hardware synths within FL Studio and which ones?

I'm thinking about buying one and my main options are, a Virus if I follow my dreams and an Alesis Micron if I follow the price.

thanks for answering, mates.

(btw, I've posted the same question in Looptalk, just in case you see both)

I was using a Creamware Noah and Omega 2 for a while. Have since moved them over to the mac. Never had any trouble.

but how do you deal with total recall as FLS doesnt handle sysex ?

well i use 2 hardware synths "within" fl, it's very easy, just add a midiout generator and select the port nr. and record your midi data.

totall recall? i just rename the midi out generator to the patch on the virus. it's not that much work really even for a lazy bastard like me.

for sysex you can use WMP in windows, just select your midi out interface and press play and it sends sysex data to your hardware. or use the demo of cubase.

my midi interface is a midiman 2x2 btw, works great with the virus / mb33 and anything else i tried it with. i have no timing problems with fl. it also sync up fine to midi clock with fl as the master. and you can link your knobs on the virus to fl generators just by right clicking on them and choose "link to..".

No problems at all. Any parameter tweaks other than patch and volume are made on the synth, not within FL.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

I was using Virus B with FL Studio ('til I sold my Virus ). Actually, I made a Virus B Dashboard which you can still find in Looptalk, it was the one that won the competion :D That Dashboard had multiple pages with every single CC# control routed in there, so you can tweak most of the parameters that way. But, it was not good for *recalling* the patches, just easy way for automation within fruity. For Sysex, I used MidiOX (http://www.midiox.com) which worked really good. Of course, to take full advantage of software/hardware studio, you will need a *proper* sequencer like Cubase or Logic when you just put sysex data at the beginning of your track, to set all the patches.

In FL Studio, as it was suggested above, just use MidiOUT set at appropriate midi port, than route audio back into your soundcard and record it right into Fruity. What was nice about it that audio gets inserted with a right delay to compensate for latency. The only reason why I actually sold my synth was to go 100% soft on my laptop.

Good luck!
