LONG LIVE KVR!!!!!
And I thank you! I use loops to help me create a song. But also, I want them to be something that can be played by live musicians. Drums are a big part of songwriting for me now. I used to only write to the guitar. Everything else was in my head. All this electronic stuff has opened up a whole new world for me. Now I can pull the music out of my head. I have written some really good songs using a simple ambient loop. I search for drum loops that sound "live".
Again thank you!

Its a wonderful world, isn't it?

What blows my mind is that we have gotten to this point now, when until 1877, there wasn't even a way to record musical sound at all!!! You either wrote it on paper, or it stayed in your head.

The only problem is, I have lost my creative angst. :hihi: I always have this silly grin on my face. :)

Bored?

I'm not bored.

Why would you think I was bored?

Thanks for making these available. I personally really like the fact that there's such ambience in the sound. Makes it sound more raw. The part I'm not very excited about though is that most of them sound like another version of 'Amen', the most overused drum loop in early dnb/jungle. Don't get me wrong, I've grooved many times over that loop, but really, it was HUGE in the mid-90s, but dnb has really moved on since then. Also, there were many other funky breakbeats that were transposed to dnb, like the Bongo Band sample, Firefight, etc. I would love for your drummer to check out this website for new ideas for future sampling sessions - it's LOADED with loops: http://www.phatdrumloops.com/old_site/full_list.html

Your words are greek to me. I just drum, and cull loops out of it. I have no idea what the oft-mentioned amen break is, still less what the Bongo Band sample, etc., are. I am that ignorant.

On the other hand.... I have an assload of drum loops in the works. Some are old big band style jazz stuff (from 90 to 135 bpm), some are more heavy/grungy (ranging from 80 to 150 bpm), some are just random bits of timed out noise designed for slicing and dicing. And much, much, more.

Thanks for your hints and links. I really appreciate them, as I don't really use the loops that I make, and so I need this kind of input to understand what people want.

No problem, I'll help. Listen to this, imagine it at 150 bpm, and then listen back to your loops. Again, this is not a hard criticism - consider it a free lesson on the history of dnb! :) :

PS: Here's Apache, from the Bongo Band. Often used in dnb, when sped up to +160bpm: http://www.synthmania.com/Audio%20Files ... Apache.mp3

Thanks!!!!

I see what you mean.

This kind of exchange of ideas is the main reason that I spend WAY too much of my time here at KVR.

I have a hard rock/prog rock background. So not only are these links usefull, they are interesting as hell.
