I'm ready to upgrade to Sonar 4 but I vaguely remember seeing a problem somewhere (I believe with MIDI) associated with Sonar 4. I can't seem to find the problem or where I even read about it. Can anyone shed some light on this.

Want to tell me about it? I've been using Sonar 4 since the week it was released.

Maybe I just missed that problem.

Just go for it dude. I can't think of any major midi problems in Sonar 4. The biggest one I can think of was that Sonar 4 wouldn't import tempos of midi files, but that was corrected in the 4.01 update.

I can't think of any Reason why I updated to 4.0 though either. I like it, but I am not a surround sound kinda guy...Seems like Sonar 3 worked just as good as 4..if not a little better.

Don't you see any benifits in working with track folders, clip muting, slip editing and freeze. I can not remember what life was before all that.

The benefits of folders and the others mentioned look great to me. This is why I want to upgrade actually. I just thought I had read about a MIDI problem that Cakewalk was aware of and were working on.

There is an envelope-related bug that was never resolved with version 3 (it was fixed in 4). I've heard of a few small bugs in v4, but these are being addressed by Cakewalk and will most certainly be fixed with the next update.

And I agree that even if you don't work in surround, the workflow enhancements mentioned above make v4 a worthwhile upgrade IMO.

There was slip editing in Version 3. Never needed the other stuff. Don't use it much now either.

There was a problem with the VST Adapter where some wrapped plugs wouldn't work in some other hosts like Sound Forge. It's corrected by the 4.02 update (which makes the Adapter 4.4.4).

Upgrade to 4.02 as soon as you install.

The slip editing in S4 in much better with multiple tracks. I always record my guitars on 2 tracks (mic'd and pickup). With S4 I never have to worry about accidently nudging the one track out of time with the other.
