No doubt many of us are familiar with Frostwave's Sonic Alienator.

http://www.frostwave.com/sonicalienator/ (http://www.frostwave.com/sonicalienator/)

I'm looking for a vst that does the same kind of stuff. I already have Refx's Trasher II, which has bitcrushing and downsampling, but is there any vst that has more advanced "trashing abilities"? I'm looking for oddity sonic artifacts - subtle things instead of the age-old bitcrushing and vinylising that so many vst's do.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't have any specific kinds of audio malfunction in mind, I'm quite open-minded...!

Have to try one of Piz's instruments: absolute mayhem. try Mr. Alias.

Maybe I'm just bitter, jaded and suspicious, but this smells like somebody with no prior posts is trying to promote a new hardware effect

On the Frostwave site:

"Order today 02/26/2005 and have you could score a free
Frostwave Blue Ringer V2 - dual input Ring Modulator
worth aud $387.00!"

What a f**king coincidence, eh?

:?

I hate shifty devs, even if the product's great. I don't need stupid f**king subterfuge to look at someone's work..

You reading me loud & clear, Frostwave?

Elite Reducer kicks this thing's arse.

And I've built sonic nukes in Quantum-FX that kick Elite Reducer's arse!

Forever,

Kim.

Firstly all Frostwave stuff is Hardware based stomp box style only - secondly they're an Australian company and lastly the guy that makes this shit is in his late 50's at least and is well known enough in hardware/guitarist circles for RingerStinger / FunkaDuck / MS20 filter clone boxes etc etc to not have to need to spam here.

I don't know who this is but it is NOT the designer of Frostwave hardware trust me.

So stop jumping too f**king Conclusions Sickle 666 :x :x :x  .

Hey, i dont know anything about that, but i can say that i love the Frostwave stuff. And I would sell my little toe for a Sonic Alienator! Frostwave gear is top notch imo and not unfairly priced at all.

And I dont work from Frostwave btw, just an observation. I think Id have a long drive to work every morning if i did... :D

Oh, and try Audio Mayhem Damage bundle, TC Native Sonic Destruction, Cynamide, Izotope Trash...

No space between Sickle & 666, please. Also, you're missing the 'cell' as well.

I don't care how well known the guy is, this is spam whether he did it or not, so you can f**k off too, m'kay? :)

For god's sake. Look, I was very excited by the Frostwave Alienator until I listened to the demo mp3s. Perhaps it is laziness on the part of the person who made those demos, but all four of them seem to have the same effect going on, with little variation! I'd probably buy it if it could do more than is demonstrated in those demos, but until I hear proof of its versatility, I'm looking around for software alternatives.

What's more, since I'm already lumbered with a Fizmo and a Sidstation and an Electrix vocoder, I don't want any more hardware. So this thread is not spam. If anything, I want the Alienator to not sell very well, so that I can pick it up some time in the future at a reduced price.

lol. Yes, it was stupid of me to lament being "lumbered" with a fizmo and a sidstation! I love them! No one's getting them!!!!

(Although, I could easily buy 5 of each right now if I wanted to, what with the money coming in from my advertising deal with Frostwave, and in particular their Alienator box: http://www.frostwave.com/sonicalienator (http://www.frostwave.com/sonicalienator). A star buy for any musician...)

Personally I like on topic spam. Makes me feel all dirty inside.

So if you're looking for some distortion effects beyond bit-crushing, checkout Exponent's Delta Force or Noizware's Tridirt or Jonas Norberg's PWMDrive.
Or try getting creative with some comb filters or something like Buffer Overdrive.

ArcDev's Ghidrah is an amazing soundmangler, but it's not on their site anymore, sadly.
