Any news on this? I saw rumors of it a while back but haven't seen anything on esoundz.

Just curious.

Thanks!

Perhaps there is something. I can't say officially yet. But, I may have some good news in this general area in not too long. :D

Squids,

I looking for a really Tines EP. I have SS1&2 and purchasing ST2.1 XL real soon here. Haven't found one in the SS's or online in XL. Is there one is these packages? Or is it coming soon.

I have to think that Sonik Synth 2 has the ability to get all the tines you need. There's also a Dyno Rhodes in there as well as FM pianos which are your typical "tines" Rhodes. But, if you have a specific example of the sound I can tell you better.

I was watching a DVD yesterday and this guy was going through some chord progression on a Yamaha Motif and he was playing and Tines EP that just rolled (if you know what I mean). It was sorta like vibrato or tremolo but not. I just know it was sweet sounding. I played with tremolo and some of the SS2 EPs having pretty good results but still not quite like what I was hear. Pretty close though. I don't know much about EPs. What's the technical diffrence between a Tine and Rhodes? Just cause I wanna know.

Thanks

Well, actually, the "tine" is what is struck by the key mechanism of a Rhodes. It's a sort of metal bell that vibrates and there is a pick up that makes it amplified. Typically when people use the term "tine EP" they are refering to it being brighter which sometimes varied from different Rhodes models to another and there was a company that did a modification to a Rhodes called "Dyno-my-Rhodes" which made the striking of the tines sharper with more bell to the attack. That's what I was refering to because in Sonik Synth 2 we've sampled so many different models of Rhodes including that one too.

But, sometimes a "Tines EP" in something like a Motif can be refering to a digital synth EP made from FM perhaps. This can be artificially SUPER bell-like and run through shimmering chorus, phasers or tremolo/vibrato effects through delays or reverb it can sound perhaps similar to what you heard. I think there is probably a way to get pretty close with Sonik Synth 2's sound set one way or another. You should try running the various EPs that sound close through various effects like chorus, phaser or tremolo and/or even autopanning is a good one for EPs plus a little reverb at the end.

Ya know...that's exactly what I did and I must say I was able to the sound I was looking for mostly from adding tremolo and adjusting the speed of it. I knew I didn't need a motif. That's way I bought SS2 in the first place.

Thanks Squids!
