Four to the floor - Hall of shame

Thought of this thread after hearing Supertramp's seminal 'Logical Song' reduced to common denominator four-to-the-floor trance hell recently. Got me thinking of other tunes that have been given this treatment. Here's 5 ...
1) 'The Logical Song'. "Hey, let's ignore the meloncholia, its a CHOOOOON!"
2) 'Titanic' (Er, NO. It's a love song ..... kinda misses the point of being carried along on a 4 2 floor ?)
3) 'Out Of Touch'. These guys apparently first heard this in the GTA Vice city game. Decided to 'remake it'. The remake constituted a 4 2 floor beat, and constant repitition of the chorus. Took them 2 hours to make, made them a few quid, and is ... F*****g awful.)
4) 'Heaven'. You know this one, the Bryan Adams tune? It was bad enough without the autotuned wailing femvox, overuse of Access Virus, and 4 2 floor misery. Sheer hell.
5) 'The Smiths'. A European travesty of monolithic proportions. Take all the Smiths singles, and throw them over a 4 2 floor. Seriously, I will track down those guys one day and get my revenge. Grrrrrr.
Any others?

It would be easier to make the very short "Four on the floor Hall of Fame" thread and safely assume the ones who aren't there belong here...
The "saturday night fever" version of Beethoven's fifth comes to mind, if I have to choose.

Not sure which mix of that remake you are referring to. Heaven received a lot of club play and radio play. What makes it so bad?
I don't have a list but anything that has rock/metal samples usually is complete crap. I even tried it once.... tried sampling Children of the grave by Black Sabbath (the opening guitar riff and just Ozzy singing the chorus).. sounded like POOP.

Oh man, there are probably so many trance/house travesties of classic tracks it would be impossible to name them all, but here's a few off the top of my head...
A-Ha - The Sun Always Shines on tv
The Doors - The End
Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love
I don't know (and don't care) who did the remixes but I know I heard these songs in four to the floor versions.

It was a Bryan Adams tune: - bad enough without the autotuned wailing femvox, overuse of Access Virus, and 4 2 floor misery.
I dont care how many times it was played in the clubs.

Old practice by now... 15 years ago Queen & Bowie's "Under Pressure" was quite badly molested by Vanilla "Ice Ice Baby". It just never moved on!!
The trance version of Bryan Adam's "Heaven" was very bad indeed... Do, the girl that sang it, did also release a "ballad" version which wasn't too bad actually. Without autotune! She didn't need that really. It was very popular at Pop Idols contestants here in Holland. Less than 10% of them realised the song was not written by Do but by Adams. Can't blame the ignorant children really...

Seeing Vanilla Ice claim innocence by humming the difference in those identical bass lines is probably the most hilarious clip ever aired on MTV!!!C00kie wrote:15 years ago Queen & Bowie's "Under Pressure" was quite badly molested by Vanilla "Ice Ice Baby".

That extra pickup note before the start makes all the difference.Hovmod wrote:Seeing Vanilla Ice claim innocence by humming the difference in those identical bass lines is probably the most hilarious clip ever aired on MTV!!!C00kie wrote:15 years ago Queen & Bowie's "Under Pressure" was quite badly molested by Vanilla "Ice Ice Baby".

I can't comment on the Logical Song thing, being almost exactly 50% intuitive and not having heard the mp3.
But:
IMO one of the worst violations of this kind was when the exciting, dynamic, off-balance 5/4 "Mission: Impossible" theme got mangled into boring square 4/4 time for the movie -- it was like Cinderella's sisters chopping off their heels, trying to fit into the glass slipper (scene omitted from the Disney version; see Grimm for the grim details). Mediocrates of Pedestrium would've been proud.
In reaction, I wrote an even worse adaptation, in WALTZ time.
