Hi,

I have used Logic 5 for several years with a MIDI keyboard, but now the keys suddenly sopped working. All the other controllers on my PCR30 are working. I guess I accidentaly messed something up in the environment :P the keys are working with other software. How could I fix this?

Post

Maybe you messed up the config of sending / receiving midi channels, dunno really...

Open an old song and see if the MIDI still works. If so, then your current enviroment is screwed as you thought, if not then the problem is not in the environment.

Post

I just checked, but the keys don't work with other songs either. Again, the knobs and sliders work as usually. In other programs the keys do work.

If it was an Environment problem, then the issue would occur only in those songs with the screwed up Environment. If it happens in all songs, then its probably not your Environment to blame. When did the problem begin? Are there any other relevant details that might help us narrow the problem down? Can you tell us exactly how the MIDI stopped working?

Check your MIDI input filter in Song Settings.

No sorry, I have a hard time remembering when and why it stopped working. I think I started woking with an old song and realized that the keys werent working. Then I realized that the keys werent working in my AUTOLOAD song either... there isnt much I can say to narrow it down Im afraid :) Logic doesn't respond when hitting the keys, but it shows midi information exchange when touching knobs and sliders.

Logic on Windows or MacOS ?

On Windows this is a popular scenario:

When a MIDI-Driver fails while starting Logic there will be a little popup-Window asking you to "retry, skip or disable" this MIDI-Interface.

Sometime people accidentally hit "disable".

If you are on windows go in your windows directory, open the file "win.ini", look for the section starting with [LOGIC] and remove all lines there. This will make Logic re-scan your midi-interface on the next start.

Thank you very much, it started working now! I deleted the lines as you told me, then I loaded the "initialization" patch on the keyboard and started Logic. It was then able to re-initialize the controller. Now I can work again :)
