People stealing music gear is like a fat pimply homo doing a corpse of a old person with a tracheotomy in a morge basement... It's so GROSS!
Attended or unattended - whatever happened to the days of 'respect' and 'fan support'?
My condolences to The Dodgems.

I'm sorry for the Dodgems, I know how it feels to get ripped off. I had $3,500 worth of keyboad gear stolen. The keyboard player in my band kept bugging me to let him take the gear home so he could work on his parts. The first night he had it at his house he got drunk and passed out with his door left wide open. In the morning everything was gone. Insurance wouldn't cover it because there was no sign of breaking and entering. I was angry for a month. Never ever lend out your gear.
As far as traveling with gear, not leaving stuff unattended is the cardinal rule, but it isn't always practical. What do you do with your enormous van/trailer full of gear when you pull up to your tiny second floor motel room hoping to get a couple hours of sleep? Which one of you sleeps in the freezing cold van?
Unfortunately I think thieves have now caught on to the traveling band thing, and they are ready and waiting for you at the venue.

I still pity Tom Ellard of Severed Heads - all his gear was stolen in Vancouver after a gig. He said it best to the drug sucking losers on his Cuisine cover.
"May your arms swell up and fall off!"
So if you ever see a torso with two legs and a head - I think we found our men! Or the worst junkies Vancouver has to offer?
