i began playing violin in 1st grade, thanks to our public music shools here. even had a teacher and learned notes and played in the shool orchestra for a few years.
but that got boring, so i more or less gave it up. but i played gutiar/bass and keyboard and with samples on the amiga for a few years until i got my first electric guitar when i was 14, as a confirmation gift from my parents
well i didnt take religion very serious, i just did that to get the guitar and amp. it was black with flames painted on, dont remember the brand but i just wanted it for the cool looks i remember.
a few years later i played bass in a band, made a demo and got played on teh radio. but then my gigantic ego came in the way and i wanted to create music on my own, and not metal music but electronic, i was very insprited by jean michel jarre at that time.
then when i was 18 or something black metal emerged from normay and i thought it aws the coolest thing ever, so naturally i dyed my hair black and bought a guitar again and began making satanic music.
but i wanted back to electronic music again, insprired by neptune towers by fenriz of darkthrone, and since then i have. i just bought a guitar again last year, but not sure what i will do with it. i just missed having one i guess.
i had my yngwie/steve vai period aswell, practising like mad on scales and shit when i was younger, but now i have completly forgotten how to read notes and i can't say i miss it much..
oh and i played drums some too, but never really practised on it since i didnt have my own drums. but my dad was a drummer so before i started in school (i was like 5) i used to play in his drums alot, trashing them completly. i guess that's when it all started.

Used to play violin, was the best in my high school but not very confident. I haven't picked one up in years so I probably suck now.
Am not so great with keyboards, but I can fake a decent jazz fusion lead
Can pick out tunes by ear on guitar, harp, and bamboo sax but I wouldn't count them as instruments I actually play.
Doumbek/djembe/ashiko I can play well enough to have fun with, and it's amazing how far a little improvisation will go to impress people who have no rhythm
I'd like to play mandolin, in fact MIDI mandolin
since they've got the same tuning/fingering as violin... not that bizarre "some strings have different intervals" crap that guitars have.

is there such a thing as MIDI mandolin?
or ist it a mandolin with a MIDI pickup added on?
i played tenor banjo/guitar for years and it's tuned in fifths as well
i've priced a couple of baritine mandolins
and it's actually cheaper to buy a PC and software than go after one of those.
