it is not instead,
it's all about a "little" problem that may occour when a product is too much new and not yet deeply tested.

A good alternative would be to buy a used
Yamaha KX88 from ebay. The touch feels really
nice (not as good as the Kawai MP9500 or the
Fantom X8 - but good neverthelesee). Those
old units normally go pretty cheap.
Cons: Very heavy and not for people who need the
amount of controllers of the m-audio-part.

I should get mine soon- I was going to wait for the CME, but sam ash was showing 599 for it, and I found a B stock keystation for 399. It may not be great, but its better than my roland PC-200 MkII

Read the answer I just got from M-Audio:

Guido,
I’ve been informed that a batch of the Pro 88s were manufactured this way, so you should return your device. Please contact our RA Department by phone (626) 633-9050 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or via email at repairs@m-audio.com to receive your Return Authorization number. We will test, repair and/or replace the device and ship it back to you. The RA Department will give you all the details concerning shipping.
If you have had the unit for less than 30 days then you are within your right to return the device to the original vendor for an exchange or refund. However this may depend on individual store policies.

Damnit! it must be true!I’ve been informed that a batch of the Pro 88s were manufactured this way, so you should return your device.
Infact, if you see the picture at: http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw8_ ... .html#fpix
Watch the 3D picture, zoom in, set a side view... I can see the black keys are tighter and higher than mine... this must be a second version!

I tried one recently at GC. It 'looks' impressive but there's something strange going on with those keys - It's like playing with Play-dooh!!

In the states, the studio logic stuff is easily 2x more than maudio, especially if you want the sliders and knobs. I do like how the studio logic keybeds feel though... As soon as I receive my keystation, I will see if I can live with how it feels, if not- I will return it and get the CME board...
