V-Machine

How does the V-Machine work with fxb or fxp presets? Or more precise, if the plugin does not create the presets by itself, and rely on the vst-host to create the presets, how are they created with the VFX Application?
I ask it because I have problems with VB3. The banks/presets I create with VFX aren't always played with the settings I programed them on the VFX. Usually (but not always) they just play the default preset or one of the other presets that the user cannot change.
thanks in advance

Are the IK Wizards going to be uploaded soon? I've been checking both sites for them but haven't seen them. Will they be at the main SM Pro site or the dedicated support site?VFXAU wrote:janka wrote:Hi, you need the wizard file for it, they are just finishing them so if you cannot make one it is ok, you will have it in a day or so.VFXAU wrote: * IK Multimedia License tool integration in wizard.

Hi, I don't claim to be an expert, but a lot of knowledgable members on another forum convinced me that using a MIDI-USB adaptor as a USB-MIDI adaptor won't work, if I've missed something please explain?VFXAU wrote:
alternativly you could connect a normal USB-MIDI adaptor to the V-Machine and use this to go to a synth if needed.
Have you tried your proposal or know anyone that has done so succesfully?
I am not out to prove you wrong, in fact I would be very pleased if you are right. But if not any chance of answering my initial question. Is there plans to include a midi out/through on the upgraded V-machine?
Regards Pete.

Hi, I have not had a chance to test it (OUT THRU from input) but I can assure you that a MIDI-USB adaptor does work on the V-Machine, it would be a matter of a firmware update nothing more complex then that, and it is a matter of scheduling this in the development cycle of the product. As you are the first person to ever ask for this (have the USB in go to another port as an output) I cannot assure you an exact time when this would be available for sure.pgill wrote:Hi, I don't claim to be an expert, but a lot of knowledgable members on another forum convinced me that using a MIDI-USB adaptor as a USB-MIDI adaptor won't work, if I've missed something please explain?VFXAU wrote:

How ever you have some options.
1. Using a normal EWI (MIDI one) you could go into a midi splitter box and run on into a hardware synth and one into the V-Machine.
2. Preffered option, why don't you just sample or get a VSTi of the synth you are wanting to use and run this on the v-machine! that is the whole purpose of the unit.

1) I'm looking at the possibilities of using the EWI-USB, price, but more size is a particular issue. However considering the amount of EWI-USB's coming onto the market, a simple midi thru could make your V-machine attractive to a lot of customers that mightn't yet have come to that conclusion (it won't be a "must have" feature until its made available).VFXAU wrote:

The purchase of an extra hardware/softsynth the V-machine could open up the possibility that your customers could use their hardsynths live, along with the V-machine, without a laptop. I think buying a whole new instrument is a bit drastic and doesn't increase your sales.
Thing is, your customers can presently use a laptop to run their softsynths, against the V-machines size and better stability, but they can run a hard synth "thru" a laptop, but not "thru" the V-machine
2) Many musicians also like using hardsynths, which are not always replicated in softsynths and even if they were, the V-machine has limits!!!

All your points are valid,
BUT, for live gigs, users want simplicity, they want to carry less, they want it to be lighter.. and that is what the v-machine is designed for. Especially for EWI users which is basically monophonic sound (sure with some effects etc), the range of sounds possible is endless.

If you have any issues then please dont post here, but instead open a help desk ticket at http://smproaudio.helpserve.com as we have multiple people working in support around the world in different time zones.
All wizard files once enough testing has been done are uploaded to

There is a very big EWI community and with the EWI-Usb its getting larger. Most wind users prefer physical modelling and in particular the Yamaha Vl70m (as its monophonic some may even carry two or more), they may layer with sample based libraries (I doubt the V-machine has got the poke for Physical modelling and the only soft versions don't work on the V-machine). Consider the cost and weight of an EWI 4000's, plus spare, consider that most users prefer not use a laptop on stage, consider that you can buy an EWI-USB and a V-machine for little more than the price of an EWI 4000's.VFXAU wrote:All your points are valid,

It doesn't take a lot to realise that it would be very attractive for live players to buy cheaper lighter EWI-USB's, use the V-machine for sample based instruments while running "Thru" to the Vl70m/s.
Most EWI-USB players don't even know that they can plug into the V-machine, but lets face it if the respected live players start using it as standard kit, need it or not, it wouldn't be long before every newbie would include it in the shopping list.
It isn't the end of the world for me if SMpro miss the opportunity, but it seems a tacticle error to fail with such a simple, low cost, addition, especiall considering it's probably already the only product other than a computer/laptop that the EWI-USB can plug into.

Hi again, just a thought. If SMPRO could make it possible and guarantee that a standard MIDI-USB adaptor could be plugged into the USB and standard midi would pass through to any hardsynth, or even produce a lowcost optional extra, such as an adaptor that would act as a midi thru, I believe you would see a marked increase in sales, not only from EWI-USB users, but also from keyboard-USB users and not mention those wishing to use the V-machine as the master for midi synchro etc.
Regards Pete.

Most softsynths are intended for keyboards, very little works good with windsynths. I know some of your customers failed with Wallander and the samplemodelling requires a state of the art CPU and soundcard, you can stuggle with a 2.0ghz Core 2 duo, so I have my doubts.VFXAU wrote:

Thank you for the link to the IK Wizards. I'd been searching for them and looking for them at both SM's support site and the official SM product site.MatthewSkinner wrote:You can download some here and help with the testing if you like.janka wrote: Are the IK Wizards going to be uploaded soon? Currently the only wizard for IK Multimedia products at the SM Pro product site database is the Sampltank 2 SE one. The only reason I posted the question here is a few pages back there is a post from VFXAU saying that the IK Wizards would be uploaded in a day or so. Thank you again for the link.....

Hi.
One problem with the VB3 organ for me, is that you cant get back to the original preset(after you change it) or your own settings without reload the plugin.
When you play VB3 in your pc there is in options a reset, but in V-Machine you cant do that.

thanks in advance
