The guy who wrote this is obviously a fanboy. And his statement that vst's are without character is not true. We have come a long way and while that may have been true at some point and is still true for some synths ( for me e.g. the avenger has no character); if you look at the market today there is a lot of character to go round in the vst world. PolyM, Repro, Xils3, Korg Odeyssey, DX7 V, Legend, Easel Buchla.. are all very different beasts.

But the point you're still missing for me: Spire, Icarus, Sylenth, Viper, .. are all very much in the ballpark of that Trance sound and the guy listening to his ipod won't know the difference or care about it.

When changing presets some settings seem to be remembered and some are not.

Example: Put Osc1/2 key follow to zero, then switch to another preset.
Result: key follow stays on zero and all presets are no longer working right.

Host tested: Reaper32.
Oops yes you are right, it happens here too but ONLY with the demo, this problem is not in the full version. I guess I must have screwed something up with the parameters to block preset saving and didnt test it enough. I will update the demo soon.

Even more. He's a sound designer. A good sound designer. I'm sure he's hearing a difference, as am I.

Its not about the end user and ipods, its about the musician who wants a specific sound to start with.

I skimmed the thread a couple days ago, I am sorry I am short on time to read through it all, just wanted to ask quick: Is Viper 32bit? Is that correct? I am quite confused if that is the case, as most are 64 bit.

Thank you very much.

EDIT: I saw on the page 'The 64-bit version of the VST for Windows is in planning stage, and will arrive in the near future, as a free update to all customers.'

My bad guys! Will be more interested when 64 bit is out, can't be bothered to use Jbridge.

If you have a Hex Editor you can make any sound you want, why bother with plugins at all?

Get the point I'm trying to make?
No you can’t.

I can. If you can't, you might need some education.

The second one is the Virus. The Virus has very dark, extremely band limited Oscillators.

Way too often I see the bad way of saying things, and not only here in KVR, but all over the internet. It's a sad fact of modern life. Some guy's may be mommys boys at home while out on the interweb they turn off their smart part of the brain and live out their worst sides.

On topic! I bought Viper and I love the sounds it can produce. I am only on 64-bit but I had jp6k for some years and it never crashed or hang in bridged mode. I had Viper since the release and so far I didn't even had a glitch. I had more "famous" and expensive plugins crashing in bridged mode, so this is why I trust the work Adam put into Viper. Well done Adam! I look forward to the 64-bit version of JP6K as well ;)
Hey, how about posting some audio demos when you get a chance.
I know this kind of music is probably not what you listen to on a daily basis :D ..but I made this little demo on your request. It's a short track starting out with every sound individually and then all together. I tweaked all the presets except one. Hope it can give a fair idea about Viper.

All sounds are Viper except drums and some FX. Only the internal reverb, delay, etc, of Viper was used for each sound.

Track sounds good. I can imagine it playing in a big massive super club.

Spire can do very similar to this. It's got a similar mid range heavy sound. But I'm not sure if Viper's ENV is as punchy.

Wich second is virus? One is virus/viper and a other viper/virus. I used internal eq so Very Dark does not matter here because it can be bright too

And as a virus ti owner its not dark at all

From some owners if ti and c models i was told C is darker a bit tho

I don't seem to be able to add automations to Viper.
Is it just me, or?

I'm using:

Windows 10
Ableton Live 9.7.5

Bug?

In fls 12.5 automation works fine. Maybe specific parameters?
