While Midiworks is getting close to that Holy Grail of solid state guitar technology, we shouldn't kid ourselves that the sound of this:

plus this:

is something that is just around the corner.
Some things are just impossible to emulate in the digital world. You might want to think of it as the 'magic' of classic equipment...

where are the drums coming from?Vervil wrote:Ok, here it is, the same song as before, but with EQ and some master compressionfritzman wrote:And yes, a song style mix would be really cool, too. Would you please do that Dushan?
BTW, which guitar, pick ups did you use?

Did it in a hurry, and noticed some mistakes after mixing, but anyway, now there are both versions with/without EQ to compare

HeheheDude.
While Midiworks is getting close to that Holy Grail of solid state guitar technology, we shouldn't kid ourselves that the sound of this:
DS-1 rips
But I doubt that any emulation can come close to this combination - DS1 + Roland all true transistor amp + basement loud rehearsal with 3 of teenage friends at a ear reaping volume... Cube at 11!!!
Drums are NSkit hats and crashes, with little EQ, and as I needed fast results, I just replaced kick and snare with samples that Andy Sneap was so kind to share, you can find them at his forum, I have posted link already. They are at his site, but there is no direct link from there. Use search function at ultimate metal to find themwhere are the drums coming from?![]()

Nobody's f**king anybody. Some people got a sweet little present, the long-time thread contributors were invited to PM Midiworks personally, and other people who either weren't here or were not long-time thread contributors simply have a day like any other, without a new wee amp sim. I don't see any f**king about some people getting something unexpected for free and some people not.

You shouldn't see it like that. In a way, this Xmass plugin is actually a demo of a real thing. I may be wrong, bit my guess is that Midiworks has intentionaly paired HiGain amp with very unusual choice of Box and mic placement, so it can't really be used for recording great Hi Gain tracks, but allows evaluation of a amps character.Qucifer wrote:So those of us who missed out are just fcuked?
And it is ok, why should NI sell their models separately, and he should give his work for free if it finaly nails sound right? He could even have Hi Gain amp model separately, and sell it for half a money of a NI price with quite a success. So you are not f**ked, you can for instance use Gsuite and get good results... Or buy plugin when is out, or naturally buy something else.

You are right Vervil.
But I also wanted to give you a unique amp flavor,
for Christmas.
OK, I guess I failed...
It was my new DualRectifire model.
I really thought I had it right.
Try to guess this please:

Maybe "fcuked" is too strong...
How about "disappointed"... Maybe "jealous"?
I've been watching this Soundspectral thread for a long time. I was just unfortunately out of town for Christmas when the freebie came out.

EDIT: I've been wanting to get my hands on this for a while.

Well, the first problem with that is it wasn't a low tuning. :)Midiworks wrote: OK, I guess I failed...

Yes you need to tune yourself at least to B or Bb in order to make Dual RectumFrier sounds right
