it simply depends on the person
some always desperately “need“ this or that certain feature for his DAW to be finally great and complete, while others are already more than happy with features from 10 year old previous versions

"Need" implies the DAW does not function without the "needed" feature.SLiC wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:46 am Anybody want to point me towards a DAW that is 'finished' and doesn't need any future additional features or improvements?
I think you should use the word "want" instead. And in this modern age peoples "wants" seem to be limitless. And the capitalist world is happy to feed peoples wants.

Not sure which direction I'm to point you but Logic has pretty much everything I can think of, not to mention a great looking gui. It's only let down is it's Mac only.SLiC wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:46 am Anybody want to point me towards a DAW that is 'finished' and doesn't need any future additional features or improvements?

Does it matter? Will drag and drop really change your mind about the DAW if you have issues with it? The fact that Logic is literally the best bang for buck DAW in the market isn’t enough?dellboy wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 1:43 pmHas it now got proper drag-n-drop ?Eclectrophonic wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 1:24 pm

I find that people who make excuses will always make excuses no matter how good the product is.

Proper drag and drop? Well I can drag and drop from finder and/or the logic browser. Is that what you mean?
Logic for me has to be the most complete full featured out there.

No, I owned a Mac Mini this time last year and was surprised that it did not have drag-n-drop for instruments like most DAWs do. It didn't bother me after a while, no big deal, it was just odd that it was not yet implemented. But I thought that it was a great DAW and I could happily use it.The only reason I sold my new Mac Mini was because I bought it just before they announced the change to arm and thought it was best to sell it. I would quite happily use a new M1 Mac.bangaio wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 2:59 pm Proper drag and drop? Well I can drag and drop from finder and/or the logic browser. Is that what you mean?

He he, my question was trying to prove a point that no DAW is perfect and they all need something, I didn't expect people to actually point me towards a perfect DAW
My workhouse 'DAW is actually Studio One as I have a small studio and (pre-covid!) use to record local bands etc...I love S1 for that, get the job done (like multitrack tape!) but no where near as much 'fun' as Reason (or Live or Bitwig) when I am just playing around or experimenting on my own.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I explained yesterday already - they've cut out a Mixer feature I was using and added a feature I never cared about (I avoided using combis in Reason altogether).SLiC wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:12 amAs far as I can tell they are not 'gutting' the DAW (what exactly has been removed?) in fact 11 added some pretty nifty workflow features...
I never wanted that. Some people only wanted that after they've been disillusioned about Props/RS ever getting serious about updating the DAW.SLiC wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:12 amYou still have the full DAW (with Blocks) you loved before AND the ability to use the fabulous Reason instruments and effects (and all the Re's you bought) in other DAWS with unique features (like the modulation system in Bitwig).
No, neither are nowhere close to Blocks. There's bits & pieces of Blocks in different DAWs (FL's patterns are probably the closest), so I can't see how that's helpful when I need those features in one place?SLiC wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 10:12 amBlocks seems pretty cool, but so is arrange in S1, clips in Bitwig and Live etc-- Best of All Worlds for multiple DAW users like us surely?! (I suspect the plan is to get the HD Rack fully working and integrated and then improve the DAW)

Unless I can't avoid them. Obviously this doesn't include insert slots in channels/master.

Next they'll remove the Channel EQ and Dynamics section from the Mixer because they're already in the Rack. #useTheRack #theIncredibleShrinkingChannelStrip #letsMakeAnticFranticantic604 wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 8:05 pm

Yes, you can drag a Block around by left clicking.Smasha wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 1:35 am Can you left click a block and drag it around like Reaper does with regions or do you have to select from the drop down box?
