I played around a bit last night and didn't maybe know fully how to get even dirtier distortion besides Lo-Fi but I do think that dirtier distortion is capable. I also still get a bit slow loadup compared to other synths. I also 2nd the browser readability. The patches lag just a bit upon changing but caused me no issues but might be if used live. Overall though I love it.

Really? Try setting L-R phase to 0. I think by default it works like an autopanner.rectus_dominus wrote:Tremolo isn't fully working I believe

First congratulation for the new look of SynthMaster2 - a pleasure to look at.
Bug 1: in MONO mode no difference if legato is on or off Glide always kicks in.
[ Question : is the legato mode supposed to stay like this ?? - I think this point really is important for full release - only take the played keys into consideration for the glide to be heard, and not the release stage of a sound - sorry if I repeat myself but i'm not sure if I described the problem clearly??]
Bug 2: when switching to large buffer reaper and energyXT2 crashed
Graphic Bug: when selecting sync in the LFO, no selection of rate is possible (only the rate knob dissapears)
( little observations :
- the text in the tune page is cut off - the bottom is missing
- there is an "e" missing in "Wave Indx Spread" in the Layer page
- perhaps the "t" of GLide Time should be written in uppercase to be consistent with the other labels)
"edited to add graphic bug"

My apologies if this has come up before: real life has kept me away from SM2 for some time and the prospect of going back through a 70-page thread is a bit daunting.
But the new GUI inspired me to crank up the latest beta and I found what I considered an anomaly in the way key assignment/priority is done in mono mode. It's easy to duplicate, as it occurs with the default preset.
If I hit and hold C3 then hit E3, I hear C3 then E3. If I release E3 (still holding C3), I then hear C3...so far so good.
If I hit and hold C3 then hit and hold E3 then hit F3 (so I'm holding all three keys), I hear F3, as expected. But if I then release C3 (holding E3 and F3), it switches back to E3 instead of staying on F3. Similarly, if I'm holding all three keys (hearing F3) and release E3, it switches to C3.
It's like some bizarre random mix of last-note-priority and lowest-note-priority...whatever it is, it's counterintuitive and unlike any other synth or plugin I've ever encountered. (FWIW, I'm using an M-Audio KeyRig49, but I really can't imagine any way the keyboard can be doing this: if nothing else, it has no way of knowing the plugin is in mono mode.)
[EDIT] Upon further review...no, it's not counterintuitive, it's just plain wrong. There is no rational reason why releasing a key that is not playing should change the key that is playing.

Ohh..I almost forgot to mention a bug I came across while designing patches for the song contest.
Often the presets I used would change upon reloading the project, so after reloading I would have to change the presets back to the ones I wanted. It didn't happen to all the synthmaster instances though, just a couple at a time.
This was in Cubase Studio 4.

I'm adding this one to our bug database. Another one to fixderaudrl wrote: [EDIT] Upon further review...no, it's not counterintuitive, it's just plain wrong. There is no rational reason why releasing a key that is not playing should change the key that is playing.

(scratches head) Should a preset titled "Dual Hypersaw Pad 01 IW" sound like a pipe organ? It's a good pipe organ, just not what I'd expect from that name.
[EDIT] The preset titled "Hypersaw Pad 01 IW" (no "Dual") sounds like, well, a hypersaw pad, so either something went amiss somewhere in the preset directory build or the browser has issues.

Are you using the VSTi version and using your host to change presets? Sometimes the synth and the host are out of sync regarding selected preset name.

Nope, the standalone version: just start it up, select 'browser', select 'pad', select the presets I mentioned from the right-hand column.kv331 wrote:Are you using the VSTi version and using your host to change presets? (And yes, it was a clean install...deleted everything except the license file.)
[EDIT] Same results if I select 'author=Ingo Weidner' and select from that list.

Shall I change that to single click?FragileX wrote:just to be sure: to select a category a single click is enough but to change the preset you need a double click ...

Yesterday i asked the question myself when browsing again through the presets, don't know how it happened. My patches were the first included in the beta so some failures are possible.deraudrl wrote:(scratches head) Should a preset titled "Dual Hypersaw Pad 01 IW" sound like a pipe organ? [EDIT] The preset titled "Hypersaw Pad 01 IW" (no "Dual") sounds like, well, a hypersaw pad, so either something went amiss somewhere in the preset directory build or the browser has issues.
My proposal to Bulent is either to delete that patch or to rename it as "Pipe Organ".
BTW the patch "Hypersaw Pad 01 IW" sounds like it should so no change needed.
UPDATE: I just checked the "Dual Hypersaw Pad 01 IW" patch. In Layer 1 OSC1 uses an additive OSC based on 8 detuned Sine waves which produces that Organ sound. OSC2 contains a hypersaw which is turned off by an unknown reason.
I'll look into it and maybe publish an update here. I still propose that the original patch should be deleted from the factory sounds.
UPDATE:
I made 3 new patches from "Hypersaw Pad 01 IW", one is the dual hypersaw pad like it was intended so the original patch could be overwritten with that.

Now that you ask, i don't see a reason why not. Also the browser would be more consistent. So a +1 from here.kv331 wrote:Shall I change that to single click?FragileX wrote:just to be sure: to select a category a single click is enough but to change the preset you need a double click ...

I did notice that both the host and Synthmaster weren't syncing to the preset change, so I'd select the correct preset in Synthmaster AND the host, but still some instances of Synthmaster (2-3 in a 13 instance project) were reverting back to factory presets upon reloading of the project.kv331 wrote:Are you using the VSTi version and using your host to change presets?
