Well... I gave it two days - damn AT2 dongle already crashed

BTW: I'm still using AT2. It really does sound good. Miles better than anything I've ever heard come out of AT1 and GR1 - Haven't heard GR2 though so it could equally be as good.

Sad, but true. I just demoed it, and I will have to purchase it... damn... but I see no alternatives (on Mac) and it is so much better than AT1 or GR2.Amberience wrote:BTW: I'm still using AT2. Actually, I'm already experiencing this problem. I hardly any of my more developed eXT projects opens up under 30-40 seconds and some take a minute and a half to load. Obviously, it's not entirely due to using dongled software, as there's plenty of sample data that need loading in those projects, but surely dongle related delays don't make it easier.pdxindy wrote:Yes, but if every company starts using dongles that take 15 seconds to load a plug-in, it would become a problem, and more companies are starting to use dongles.
Also, I've just noticed that during loading of an AT2 instance, the actual dongle communication (dongle diode blinks) happens fairly quickly - some 2-3 seconds after opening an instance. What takes so long during all the remaining seconds is beyond me... Bloody Synchrosoft encrypting its code back??
Anyhow, I haven't read the entire thread in full so correct me if I'm wrong, but did anyone during all the nice chat around the 15 seconds issue actually think of making an official (group) complaint about it to IK? Or just open a thread in the ESoundz forum to ask Squidz to kick IK's ass about it a bit?

I wonder if the AT2 modules were independent it would be less of a CPU hog and more respnsive.
it justifies to have it like it is if it worked standalone.
I think that as a plug having all the modules separated would be a lot better, well it could have a little more latency, but 15" to load and the CPU it takes is not usual, unless one considers that AT2 is not one plug but a lot of them.
bye.

On PC i think notAmberience wrote:It does work standalone as well as a plugin.
this good news to me, thanks.
However as a plug would be cool if i could use the Amp Sims alone.. you can call me Mr. Dry.
I wonder if any generic foot control is capable of replacing stomp I\0 in standalone mode.
Bye.

Shit dude you're right. There is no standalone! What an utterly wanky thing to do...

you can use savihost if you want to emulate standalone with a plug that comes without, or if you are less picky cantabile is a great small footprint vst host, as is minihost ...
