Yes I know, it was a free upgrade so I might as well have checked it out at least. Sounds very good to my ears but songs take f**king ages to load up when an instance of AT2 is used and my system hangs every now and then (too often for me to ignore it) and I *suspect* its the dongle being a c**t.

No way I'm spending money to talk to some iliterate retard working for IK during a lull in his fluffing career.

i was so on the fence about buying the upgrade from AT1 but my policy since cubase, the only dongled product i own, is no dongles and so i didn't buy the upgrade. i'm thankful i didn't it sounds like it would be a headacheAmberience wrote:Yes I know, it was a free upgrade so I might as well have checked it out at least. can you go back to AT1? how long does it take to load AT2? 'f**king ages' could be 15 seconds to you but 15 minutes to me? does the dongle have any kind of activity light on it? if so is it flashing or anything during these delays?

at least 15 seconds. Which isn't a long time in most contexts, but in the context of loading up a song during a bout of creativity, its really long. The dongle is always lit when the machine is powered on, I've not noticed any flashing as such.

no i'm with you, that's a long time man. just 1 instance? or if not 1 how many? 1 @ 15 seconds is wayyyyyy too long for a plug to load unless it's loading memory or something with sample data - which it isn't..Amberience wrote:at least 15 seconds. I have to confirm, AT2 takes loads of time to load - at least 15 seconds per instance in my case. I have a feeling that loading further instances gets a bit faster after the first instance opens, but not too much (percievably). And since CSR also takes a similar while to load, I strongly suspect that the fahking dongle is to blame *! We should organize a flash mob at the IK offices and shove our spare dongles up their arses!
*) Well, either that or they both decompress something to memory upon startup
Hell knows, fahk the dongles anyway

Its a shame, because AT2 really is the best distortion modeller for the PC as a plugin, it does sound really f**king good on anything - vocals, drumloops, bass, guitar... you can get very useable sounds.
It's a shame that they want to cripple their software like this.. I kind of hope it'll be cracked and then I'll just use that.

There will never be a amp sim or reverb I like enough to put up with a dongle. Absurd. I'd buy an outboard unit first.
