you're kidding... I wanted the blues set from vocal planet. I actually wrote customer service and asked if I could buy the blues content alone.

She was friendly, but said no... :D She did report that *some* of vocal planet would end up in omnisphere.

Now you are saying "all" ??? are the multisamples a subset?

I'm ready to wet myself. Please let me order Omnisphere today.

Eric, in 2006 I wrote my first review here on kvr - and ended it like this..

'No definite word on an update yet, but here's what I'd like to see: RMX style FX busses, more incredible presets, the ability to name your own presets, and the ability to layer more than two sounds. Perhaps even some tempo linked 'variphrase' style sounds from the 'Symphony of Voices' library, if that's at all possible! '

So... looks like I got it all right... and I promise dutifully to be a proud Omnisphere owner come September! Everything you've said about Omnisphere makes it an absolute 'must-have' - and to be able to own the SoV library to boot makes it a 'bargain'! Anyway, as a proud Semi-VIP, may I wish you the 'Best of British' come launch day!

So Spectrum or Glen, is SOV in Omni now?
Yep. :-)

Basically the entire Symphony of Voices library is integrated into the Omnisphere core library.

Also, all of the Vocal Planet multisamples are included too.

Granular synthesis on Tuvan Throat singers anyone? :-)

That's a lot of great vocal samples. I've been drooling over those 2 collections for a long time. Omnisphere is sounding better & better all the time. Would I be correct in assuming that the Groove Control content is in the bonus sectioin of the SAGE Xpanders? (I still need to pick up RMX, but Omnisphere is a higher priority right now.)

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

  enough...enough already! This is just too much :o I'm also eligible for a VIP discount

SOV has truly s...t...a...g...g...e...r...i...n...g sounds. But combine the synthesis options in Omni with this...groove lock to RMX and...well lets just stop talking about it before Eric drops some other crazy statement! :o Mods, lock this thread, lock it...lock it now! :hihi:

Omnisphere is utterly amazing IMO. I am so sure and I have not even played with it yet :hihi: What a truly amazing effort.  :tu:

A lot of this has been said, or at least been hinted at before, but this one is new.....

One question I don't believe I've seen asked on these forums, which is surprising:

will Omnisphere run on Receptor?

Post

I'm most definitely a Spectrasonics VIP member. :)

I was really hoping we'd get to pay for the upgrade before 9/15. I wonder how long it will take to get our hands on this beast.

LOL! It's going to be hilarious to watch others nitpick at Omnisphere using the most dismal tactics imaginable.

No doubt. I didn't realize that content would be in there too. I remember paying $500 for the SoV collection alone back in the '90s, just to put in perspective the value Omni represents.

It's very enticing to hear about the analog synths represented in the core content, too. While VA emulations are getting better all the time, I still find multisamples of real analog synths to be more sonically pleasing when going for more traditional analog sounds. It will be great to have a selection of that kind of material to work with in Omni's voice architecture (and, in typical Spectrasonics fashion, those instruments have undoubtedly been sampled very well).

spectrum wrote: Yes. There will be an upgrade available for all Atmosphere customers directly from Spectrasonics.
Will this upgrade be available through dealers too? I live in Europe (Sweden to be more precise) so it would be a lot simpler for me to order it from a dealer within the EU and not have to deal with customs and all that jazz.

Do you seriously mean that all or most of the entire range of Spectrasonics libraries (I count 18 of them. 18!!!) are included in this? Sounds crazy, no, certifiably insane...
Not that I'm complaining, just can't wrap my mind around the idea...

Is there anything more you could tell us about the filters of this beast? I've seen some videos that demonstrates the "zoom-in"-window and from that I understand that it's possible to do OSCar-style filter separation, right?
Would there happen to be switchable characters too? (characters as in ladder, SEM, Curtis etc., not as in LP/HP/BP).

This thing seems to be utterly awesome, waiting for it is killing me.

Backbeat, Burning Groove, Liquid groove, Retro funk and Metamorphosis has already been released as sage expanders for stylus RMX....And as a bonus : the groove controlled elements from Distorted reality 1+2, Vocal planet and Bizarre guitar.

Eric has said it would be hard to make a sage version of supreme beats, and I somehow don't see bass legends make it into Omnishpere unless it's a bonus with the trilogy expander.

But SOV, VP, DR1, DR2, The rest of Bizarre guitar, Heart of asia/africa 1+2 and HZ guitars will all proably be included

In all honesty, previous Spectrasonic products, while certainly looking good, never made me reach for my wallet. I've got enough synths to probably get adequate results out, so Athmosphere hasn't been too high on my wishlist. I always seemed to like the concept of Stylus RMX, but as I'm a sort of DIY dude, it didn't exactly click with me. I loved the Trilogy demos, but I'd prefered something more "opened" (as in sampler patches).

Now, having said all that, everything I've seen from Omnisphere is just making my mouth wet. I don't mind the hype, it just looks like a kickass "synth" to have. A bit pricey perhaps, compared to others, but nothing like overpriced or anything, considering that some of the greatest sounddesigners have done their best to make this a truly great experience.

Will wait for the first user reports, though. And probably even a bit longer (you never know).

Hi Eric

I have both Trilogy and RMX would it be cost effective for me to purchase Atmosphere now to become a VIP or is it to late :?:

Thanks :)

I think I just peed a little bit :help:

Two weeks to go and I wonder how many more, "oh by the way, did I mention(s)", are coming from Eric.

Btw, you didn't mention Heart of Africa Vol. 1&2 , Heart of Asia, Bass Legends, Hans Zimmer Guitars Vol. 1&2, yet, but there's still plenty of time :hihi:

While I think its good to have some of the old Spectrasonics libraries included in Omnisphere, many years have passed and I think some of those samples show their age, so I sure hope that the big part of the sample content is new, more detailed and on top of all more focused in the target of this new synth: new and better sounds.

Dont get me wrong, I have no doubt that some hand picked sample sets from those libraries would do a good service inside this new beast, I only mean that would be not much exciting to have so many "deja vu" in this synth.

About the synth engine and voice architecture Im yet thinking what will mean exactly what Eric said:
"10 Oscillators PER voice... Each layer can have up to 5 oscillators. So the Dual layer architecture of a patch can use up to 10 polyphonic oscillators if you want."
What type of edition and processing would have each oscillator?, Im starting to have the sensation that those arent like the ones in Wavestation or Wusisktation, etc, maybe its only some type of unison mode... Im more and more curious about that oscillator strutcture.
