there is one i really liked "chromina" its Pc only, its a Synth-edit plugin but it sounds good which is high praise coming from me( i hate Synth-edit)

After the juvenile first response this turned into an interesting and educational thread. Even if it is a bump of a really old thread. I'll have to try some of the recommendations if they are still around.

Cromina still leads the pack but the Solina can be done more accurately.

http://www.synthescience.com/index.html#The synth called prodigious has a solina patch and poly2106 also by the same dev has some cool string sounds as well.
