Here's my entry for this contest.
It's called "... in 12/16". Here's the recipe:
- 29 x Farbrausch instances on Cubase Studio 4
- Tal Filter in insert (in 1 or 2 tracks, with automation on cutoff)
- 1 x Tal Dub II on send
- 2 x Tal Reverb II on send
- 1 x Melda DC Blocker, 1 x SHEPPi Free Spatial ENhancer, 1 x Ferric Tds and TLs Maximizer on master bus
- a lot of automations on cutoff, pan pot and volumes
Hope you enjoy it (... please download it, as soundcloud transcoding is a sort of unwanted bitcrusher on master bus!!!)

I deleted my track and upped it again. It's essentially the same song, but I added 2 instances of reacomp to raise the overall volume a bit. it's still not very loud, but i'm closing the gap.
By the way, is OSC taking the next month off? I haven't seen a voting thread.

But of course there will be one KVROSC.
A mandatory one. That's why there is no vote for synth this month.
Stay tuned and have a good day.
Secret, secret... Shhhh

I've just re-uploaded my track.
Specs are the same, just a little bit rearranged, improved dynamics and panning.

And so .. anyone shittin themselves about gettin their track in
( he asks with uncharacteristic smugness having uncharacteristically got his coin in the fountain )
V'ger - cheers for the advice/methods re. getting the reviews and votes done between commitments, all good, but I do insist on listening to all tracks in a single session, and a second listen to all in the same session. and a third, etc ... and when reviewing, gotta be done in one session because they all need to be judged by the same head.
My 'head' changes so rapidly regarding what music I like ( or dont ), that I regard it as fair if I have taken the time to do a few casual listens through the whole collection to become familiar, then do the reviews as I sit down and dedicate an hour or so to 'critical listening'
Yeah, I may have a few notes on tracks from previous listens, but serious comparative judgement comes from running the whole thing in front of one 'head' ... though that one 'head' can easily be changed by a particularly 'head changing' track
Still, I tend not to listen to any tracks until they are all in, and atempt to listen to them an equal number of times ( whether as little as twice, or (a record) 9 times )... before judging.
I'm not saying everyone should do likewise, just saying that's what I regard as the right way to do it. Therefore, when it is not possible to judge in the way I think fair, perhaps it is better I dont .... and learn to stop apologising when I cant
Anyway, it's cool to have this little bit of time to be posting here, and to take the opportunity to say I still love OSC, and say big cheers to you V'ger and all who give of their time and effort to create tracks and keep this comp going.
It is always my album of the month, and always an exciting, stimulating mix of quality and imagination, sounds and some thought provoking, boundary challenging, fun, and furious journeys .... perhaps to the extent that any single band, however notorious and prolific cannot hope to produce

Well I think it was the new fellow admin Irion who suggested the running voting, but I can understand the reasons for waiting for all to come in as that's what i do myself.
My recommendation to save time is to load all songs on a portable device and listen here and there in between, although it can still be hard. Might still have 3 weeks voting, I just made deadline 15th so it's easy to remember as much as anything.

Interesting sinus-clearing noises at the beginning. You sure you didn't sample those?tattiemannie wrote:OK, I'm in!! ... and with a couple of days to spare
Tattiemannie - Say That Again
However, I can hardly talk, as yet again, with the best of intentions, I've not had the time (or ability) to get a track in. Maybe the next one....
cheers

Well, i came today here to tell you all about SoundCloud.
I received an e-mail from them. They said i almost reached the download limit.
I didn't know this, and maybe you all neither.
Well, with a free account in Soundcloud, the download limit for a track is 100 times. Then, the download button will be disabled. So you know, time to create a premium account or upload the track again.
Just to let you know about the limits in Soundcloud for future contest, etc.
Have a good day.

How Rude! As if we have any control over how many people might download our track... It seems as if we've been coming up with reasons to move on, any ideas?

Don't worry about it at the moment.gorgorgathgorgorgor wrote:How Rude! As if we have any control over how many people might download our track... It seems as if we've been coming up with reasons to move on, any ideas?
We could upload the track again and delete the another.
And also, we have a side download links every month (when all tracks are correctly uploaded). So people still could download tracks from HERE.
Take a look at the pic.

You can download a compressed file with all tracks, or individually.
Anyway, all the above tips would useful only in extreme cases. People won't download 100 times a track from SoundCloud in OSC. (I never saw that)
So really no need to move on at the moment.
I just wanted to give some info (which i didn't know neither)
I only reached that cypher in Music Cafe contest.
Have a good day

We made our second submission:
Don't Panic!
Please download because it sounds like *!&§*grrrr on Soundcloud
V2 instances used:
14 Vocals (what a battle ...)
3 Explosions
2 SoundFX
2 Percussion
1 Bass
2 Lead
We couldn't manage to address different lines of speech by Midi CC so we had to use this awful lot of instances to get a chance to handle the track and its different languages - no babelfish applied.
FX:
Stillwell AutoPan
Cockos ReaVerbate and ReaDelay
The Story:
RuediRena take over the Earth from the mice, manage quite well until they lose their babelfishs which leads to considerable confusion - until the hichhiker's guide suggests to have some Pangalactic Gargleblasters.
Naturally this leads to ...
