Reincke wrote:have just opened the Demo "Distant Moon #3" (previously upgraded to 3.2.14) in M4 (4.0.63). There are more than 4 Tracks now. This behaviour is different to M3. Why that? Bug or feature? Haven't found a hint in release note or this forum.
Cfr the preliminary M4 info page:

The "Part Targets" feature has been removed. This simplifies the concept without loosing anything essential. For it is still possible to set a separate MIDI channel per part. You can even use separate MIDI channels per event!

When I have Sonic Charge MicroTonic open and I set it to play from its internal sequencer (so I'm NOT playing midi from M4 sequencer) it starts to play like supposed to, but when I add an effect in the rack below it while it's still playing, then it stops playing imediately.

This does not happen in M3 (or any other hosts I've used before). When I add an effect there while uTonic is playing it just keeps playing.

So something is different there. Quite annoying personally, because this is my go-to drum synth/sequencer..

Anybody else using MicroTonic or perhaps another plugin with built in sequencer that can be played while host seq is idle, who can confirm this?
I inserted the latest Microtonic in M3 in a rack and started playing, then inserted a MuVerb in the rack slot below, and Microtonic continued playing.

I did the same thing in M4, and had the same behaviour, i.e. Microtonic continued playing.

So i'm not sure what you mean.

Hmmm very strange.. I just did exactly the same in M4 and still have the same problem.

Here (choose "download this file") I made a little video to show it. It's without sound but you see Microtonic stops playing right after an effect is inserted.

Thanks for the video, it showed we were doing slightly different things.
Ok, i found the reason why Microtonic stops playing in that case.
I must think this thru a bit more.

I got many crashes with MuDrum here...

What I did:

I created some tracks and racks, imported some midi sequences, created a drum sequence and inserted MuDrum in Rack 1...
I loaded a preset in MuDrum, where I just disabled MuPads 5-12 and disabled all modules in the first 4 except the first sample slot...

I loaded a sample for each of the first 4 MuPads (a kick, open HH, closed HH and a clap (all wav files from my own library)

I played the created drum sequence and lowered the volume of the (MuDrum-) internal rack 1...
I inserted a preset high shelf filter from the factory library into the first slot of MuPad 1 (without playing) => Crash

Loaded saved version did the same again...no crash played sequence stopped and inserted a factory loshelf after the first highshelf => crash...

Sorry for a newB question: In M4 (free) I won't be able to route parts to more than 4 instruments, in case a VST plugin cannot be configured to a specific midi channel?

Sounds interesting.

Lets try to find a repeatable pattern there.

You could setup a MUX with a channel splitter and route it to up to 16 single-channel VSTs. Then use the part channels to target each of these VSTs.

Hi Reincke, just so you know, if you happen to be an M3 license owner, you could register M4 Public Beta with your M3 serial number, so you can test without the limitations :)

Since it's possible I guess that's permitted, right Jo?

Sure!

Thank you for that hint. At the moment I'm working with the free version. (BTW: Has anyone heard my 1st song on soundcloud?[proud])

M4 will get my birthday present 2011 (!) from my wife. My birthday is in january ...

That lead's to other questions: Will the licence modell change from M3 to M4? Will the ultimate version include an update to M5? Will the prices be "updated"?
Okay, this might be an other thread.

Jo, could it be possible when hovering over the cpu meter bar with the mouse to give give a read out of the current processor load percentage instead of just "CPU Meter"? That would be very convenient :)

I can't answer this yet. Still working on the tech side (optimizations atm). Once the tech side is finished, i'll be able to take these decissions.

No.

Can't do this atm, sorry.
Feel free to resend this FR some time after M4 has been released.
