I thought it might be an issue with copperlan causing some sort of midi loopback so removed it on my laptop but i'm still having issues. Is there anything i can send you when the crashes or bugs occur? It must be something unique to my setup.

I'm closing in the next beta and there's a few more mixes so let's see what happens with that one :) The only way to narrow in on specific problems really is for me to send you a debug version that logs to a text file so I can track what's going on. There's still a few holes to fill so I'm not too worried about it yet, plus the final big job of implementing the sampling side of the synths which I want to start today.

Something went wrong with that sentence, should have read:

Ok sound! I'm on the fence about buying it cause of the bugs, i love the extended tie modes and triggers when they work.

One input method i thought of was step input but the sequnces are triggered by notes unless you could have a mode for creating the sequences. Fxpansion Geist and Tremor have a focus option in the midi mapping so CCs can be mapped across all the engines and control the one in focus.

What about a paint mode for the steps and sequencer lanes that worked chromatically?

Vortex is a blast anyway, i'm just thinking of what it would be like to input everything via a mouse over 12 sequences and the long term impact on ones wrist! :hihi:

Beta 8 is up!

* Delay Knobs were wrong, Level was missing.
* PortaMento added for mono mode instruments
* Spread Added to the synth section for randomly panning instruments.
* Drift Added for randomly de-tuning instruments.
* Bank LSB 0 now has about 80-90 presets.
* Fixed Synth Mono Retrigger buttons so that retrigger is now enabled when it is lit.
* Many more behind the scenes fixes.

Known Issues

* When Retrigger is disabled synth is glitchy on Legato note starts.
* Default Values throughout have yet to be sorted out as well as randomizers.

I'm sure we'll get the bugs sorted, usually do, it's just about getting to the bottom of why it's happening, and it gets more difficult when it's machine specific bugs that I can't reproduce locally. It's been a serious amount of work so far and there are lots of loose ends to tie up still.

I'll feel much better in a few days once I have all the major work out the way and can get more focused on specific bug fixing and enhancements etc...

I have been thinking of the focus idea, just reserving 32 CCs for the steps, that would be easy enough to implement, I'm just being a bit non-committal about assignments at this stage until I can look at the whole thing and see where they would be best used, but I reckon using the same ones I used in ARP but they apply to the current sequence. I'm just not sure about how to deal with muted notes, that would probably require another 32 unless receiving a value automatically enables it...

The idea really, was that you use the note randomize in combination with the scale squasher which so far seems to pretty effective at coming up with interesting riffs. Once the release is out of the way, I plan to have a think about how to improve this even further.

"What about a paint mode for the steps and sequencer lanes that worked chromatically?"

Can you explain in a bit more detail?

Oh and Double click speed has been slowed down!

Post

I can confirm that the double click has been fixed. :)

Undo, doesn't seem to work for me still.

Post

No it's disabled for notes and velocity it was causing a crash so will be fixed when I get a chance :)

I now have sample playback working for normal samples so that samples can be used as a synth sound source, once that is toned I can work on the drum sample code.

Glad the double click is better now!

A major issue is Vortex crashes in Cantabile lite and in Reaper when switching on the multisequence button. Anyone else has this problem?

Post

Are you playing notes and if so is it via the onboard or an external keyboard?

There will be a new beta today, the drum code is complete now :)

Post

Crash verified, I'll look into it now.

It's not working at all in Cantabile here so loaded an instance in FL Studio and the sequencer lights were jumping about as before, checked the driver and asio4all was selected so i changed it to my AK1 and the step lights returned to normal.

I noticed it wasn't playing the full 16 steps again so i disabled align tick lengths and the lights started their little dance again, changed presets and it got worse. Now as soon as i load an instance the lights are jumping about erratically.

Re paint mode, hold the mouse and drag across the lanes to input the steps to quickly draw in patterns. :)

What i was saying before about gated notes, in the various tie modes the non tied notes are really short, about 1/32 but the tied notes are about 1/4 of a step so it seems like the gate is too short. Actually, the tempo was set to 8 hence the difference in lengths.

Seems a lot more stable in Live anyway! :)

Mark - This one is fixed in the next version, thanks :)

TJ - I still can't reproduce any of these problems unfortunately, it does seem to be something to do with your specific system, which makes fixing trickier. I find it strange that different asio drivers could make a difference to the plugin itself, and I'm completely perplexed as to how it could affect the lights! Very strange.. I've just tried asio4all on my system and it didn't make any difference as far as I could tell, although I don't find asio4all very stable in general with my soundcard.

Which driver did you use in cantabile? Again it works well in cantabile here..

Paint mode is added to the FR list.

Yes the gate time is short, the way it is built it has to be a 64th note and so you must use Release time to lengthen the notes. It is tricky to implement note length when you have multiple tempos running from a single clock. I do plan to look into other ways to add it when I look into swing.

Back to your issues, I think we will have to do some dedicated debugging in a few days time to try and figure out what is going on via log files.

Is ARP functioning correctly in all respects in FL?

Is anybody else using FL and having these issues?

Ok Beta 9 is up:

* Added Drum Sample Engine, there are currently 2 kits on LSB 4 , program numbers 0 and 1, see Drum Test 1 for an example. The full version will have 127 kits, I've limited it to 2 for the beta to limit the download size for the moment.
* Added Instrument Sample engine - Although there are no sounds using it yet.
* Fixed more midi based bugs
* Fixed Multi-Sequence switch ON/OFF crash
* Added Portamento control for mono instruments.

Be sure to extract the entire archive as there is now sample content in the Vortex sub-folder.

TJ - Some of the midi bugs may have been causing you problems, one was particularly nasty involving pitch bend :)
