Calling software developers money-hungry-rich-fat people is beyond ridiculous, I'm sure many will agree on this.
I think he was being ironic, because of the prevalance of anti-ilok loudmouthery here(*). Hence the comment about 'how the theme goes here'.

(*) Basically here its like the equivalent of a cooking forum where every thread eventually gets hijacked by a couple of dicks yelling "I dont eat dairy products. Dont eat dairy products. Cheese is the devil." Its f**king tiresome.

I think the DICKS are the people that moan about the people moaning.
And in its pathetic predicatability, that statement pretty much proves my point.
lol,

redacted for WR

So what are you when you moan about the people moaning about the people moaning?

sorry Meffy...I just want to remind people of the thread I started a few years ago in site stuff about this very thing...as I recall my question was "are there more people complaining about dongles than those who have actually had issues?" or something similar...I made it clear in that thread I was not talking about whether people liked dongles or not...the thread turned into what every dongle thread does, with all the cliches from both sides...but my question was never directly answered.

So again sorry Meffy, but I'm not sure when the word "dongle" is used there is such a thing as on topic...or at least I dont believe keeping it on topic is possible.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

what you've quoted was redacted because it was being typed as Meffy posted, not after. just in case he's looking for another excuse to ban me.

Slate Digital has fix instructions here http://www.gearslutz.com/board/9124826-post405.html

Sounds like ilok is now fixed but those who used the new ilok software Sunday - Monday could still be affected until they try the fix instructions.

Post

Does anyone know if all issues have been finally resolved? Is it safe to sync now?

BELIEVE IN SOFTWARE FREEDOM
Since iLok2, WiBu dongle and the current incarnation of eLicencer are still the only three uncracked forms of software protection, saying what you said there - and this applies to all dongle haters - is almost the same as saying you support piracy.

You see, the necessity of using dongles is not some developer conspiracy against the paying customers; it is their desperate attempt to protect their efforts and remain in business.

Get rid of dongles and you'll destroy a significant chunk of the industry, which means less cool tools for all of us.

Dongles are not our problem; crime is.
Sorry, but system platforms like iOS don't need dongles do they? Or is it already built in, and just WORKS CORRECTLY? Saying I cannot support dongles cannot be misconstrued as supporting software piracy, because your draconian mindset cannot fathom other forms of DRM.

If Apple were not able to maintain control of iOS, everyone would jump ship. This "niche market" of audio software was never intended to bolster DRM in place of a WORKING SYSTEM. This is why there are no dongles on Neve consoles, or Eventide multiFX, because despite the fact they are circuit based, they use software to do things like produce music and broadcasts.

No one forced developers to make audio software for the PC, they did it because the opportunity was there. It just so happens the computing model is biased towards independent usage with the added benefit of intercommunication. With that in mind, producing audio on an independent system is reliable.

The thing is, I am clearly anti-dongle but more in a satirical way, but this is the problem: when it is hard to tell "is it safe to install that thing now?" Something is clearly not right. And that's why I make fun of iLok -- they do have us by throats with out favourite plugins, yet they don't seem -- how do I say this -- so savvy.

Hopefully I am on topic?

I'm still having major problems. But, according to PACE, nothing to see here.

http://www.sonicscoop.com/2013/06/11/il ... edia-stir/
But despite the clamor on the web, a representative from PACE confirmed for us that only a small number of users were affected:

"All of our support tickets to PACE on this issue totaled less than 75 and some of those were duplicates," he said. "We strive to answer all support tickets as quickly as possible."

Thanks for staying on top of this, everyone. I just bought some iLok protected plugs at the JRR blowout sale (AMAZING!), and am glad I can authorize them now!

Much appreciated, KVReveres!

You're comparing iOS to iLok or your OS? If iOS was your desktop software, I could promise you would go bezerk how insanely closed it is and things you are not allowed to customise or do.

..back on topic.

All the best...
Not for me.. Two perfectly working ilok keys have been corrupted.. All I did was download a new license I bought. That worked and i lost almost eveything else. Now that doesnt work but sonnox and a few others are working, I've lost everything else.. Not one of my projects will open without hitting pace auth screens and then crashing the host. I can't work on a single current song right now cause they all use tons of ilok plugs,

I've been hit really hard. 79 ilok plugins has been turned into 34 or less working at present, for two days only three worked! Every single suggestion posted has been tried and followed, but all I get are error messages, unknown or server, also tried installing and syncing on another machine and even connecting via 4g tether in case my hardware router was causing an issue. My iloks have been just about bricked.. They won't answer my emails.
:( :(

All that I can say at this point is, if anyone is reading this, stay away from anything iLok...period. :help:
