A little niche observation here, but would have been really nice to see an implementation of a Flex Pitch-like control for MIDI or automatable parameters in Piano Roll. See http://createdigitalmusic.com/files/201 ... pector.jpg if the squigly lines could be synth parameters, would add a very intimate and streamlined approach to synth expression programming (hah, almost an oxymoron), I believe. But probably me being silly..

I think you'd need a VST3 like implementation for that (ie, be able to have different parameters per note)

Paying for Logic 9 and Logic X is still less than the price of Cubase 7.

Damm this big companies...
since it's an "app" now they don't have any upgrade path. just like all apps have to be repurchased when a new version arrives.

Why do I have a feeling that Logic X looks awefully like StudioONE and Ableton Live?

Also, if they dropped 32bit, is there no brige?

Else, I'm also worried about the "App Store" thingy, if that really is the case.

Dunno what to think of it. But 200quids - is a steal considering what you get, and what Logic once cost! Only if it'd clean of all bugs...

Just pretend Logic 9 cost you $500+ like every other pro level DAW. $200 is your upgrade price.. not bad!

Melodyne is a class on it's own with polyphonic note editing and the possibility to disconnect the harmonics of a sound from the root note and then mangle the harmonics around to produce something totally new.
Yep, Melodyne's algorithms are superior to pretty much anything. The only problem is the hassle of transferring the audio to the plugin, and all the difficulties caused by it playing the audio, instead of the DAW... Because of that, I usually end up using Logic's flex audio for timing stuff. With its artifacts and all, but I'm already pretty good in keeping them to minimum. :)

I have been dreaming of a system where you could edit time & pitch directly in the DAW, using Melodyne's algorithms. Flex Pitch is definitely a step in the right direction. Celemony's ARA looks like an ideal solution, I just wish it would be implemeted in Logic. (One can always hope...)
So i assume there no implementation of the ARA tech. like it has been the case in studio one ?

I searched the new documentation and found no reference to Logic Node, i.e. resource sharing between two computers. Is this feature gone?
I witnessed the Nice, France terrorist attack, told the story with a music video: https://youtu.be/eHhw4Bl9HOs

So anyone got this running alongside Logic 9. I really can't give up a 32 bit version at the moment but if I could replace my 64 bit Logic 9 with this that might be enough. What I don't want though is 2 sets of the same sample libs taking up lots of GIGs or to find they have been overwritten by the new version and won't load in Logic 9 any more.

Yes! Finally! Just finished downloading the LogicX and testing the new features.

By the way, I jst noticed that there is a free 46min tutorial video by MacProVideo that shows the new stuff:

Logic X is a separate app to Logic 9, I have them installed side by side now.

Can't really say about the sample content. 2 GB is automatically downloaded when the app is first launched, this cannot be cancelled the app won't start without it. Not sure how much space that consumes when expanded.

There is an optional 39 GB to download. This is automatically started but can be cancelled / resumed any time (I cancelled).

Perhaps because the 39 GB content was cancelled changing drum kits / drummers seems to require a separate download, but this can also be cancelled.

Peace,
Andy.

Already mentioned, dude.

What's with Steve Horelick's delivery. Its like he's talking to a goochy goochy baby. I almost can't watch it. Good teacher no doubt but the way he talks makes me feel totally insane. Not his fault. Just saying. And curious if anyone else feels this way.

I'm excited if flex-pitch does even a half decent job. Melodyne is great if you have a consistent tempo grid.. Last time tried to correct some vocals on a live mix that bloody thing can't even stay in sync for more than couple bars w my edited tempo list whatsoever (plugin or rewire).
