However, any demoed daw that does not make sense intuitively within the first 15 minutes of playing with it is a no go for me. A good daw is one that does not need big manuals. But maybe I am just a lazy lad or stupid like shit or both.
I didn't gel with FL for ages and couldn't do the things i wanted to until the last couple of versions but i've watched a bunch of videos to fill in the gaps. It's actually pretty simple once you know how it works, it's just not immediately obvious from the outset. I had to look up sidechain recently cause i'd not used it before and there's 3 different ways of doing it!

I've gotten comfortable with it now and it's really not all that different from other hosts under the hood and it has some really good instruments and fx. :)

If KVR has taught me anything, it's that Bitwig will never be the top dog. Top cat, fer sure, but not top dog.

I don't think it's that cynical but like the poll says 'FL might not be for everyone' which strikes me as odd that it's number one, a lot of people say they don't get on with it. I thought musicradar was CMs sister website anyway...

They can only go by the votes.

It's easily the most DL'ed of the hosts. It's the most cracked of the hosts. I'm not joking about the 4/4 beat, there isn't anything that is easier to do that in. Heck, the opening page has a hat, a kick, and a clap (and something else) straight away. You can get a "beat" w/o any effort or knowledge of music.

Now, that is NOT SAYING that it's not a mature and fully functional daw. It is for certain, but it's not surprising that considering how many "producers" there are out there (now, that was a dig :hihi: ) that it's the most popular.

don't worry guys, you can still vote in a poll where FL has no chance to win :)

(most likely they were out of room, with all those major DAWs like Sadie, Auria, & the iPad ones)

 My daw kicks Sadie's ass!

Oh wait a minute ... what's Sadie? Is there a crack? Does it have Session View? Can it modulate my EDM beats?

So ppl can't express their preferences anymore without getting talked down? It clearly states: "MusicRadar users have voted FL Studio their favourite DAW". Ppl use whatever feels right to them - what's so surprising in seeing FL highly ranked? It's dead easy to work with: up front you have the step sequencer with the piano roll to build loops & phrases in a matter of minutes and next to it it's the playlist in which you arrange the patterns - it can't get simpler than that. It may not be a "traditional DAW environment", but it doesn't take time to get it. Most other DAWs have a longer learning curve and that might be difficult for someone just starting to mess with music software. However if you go deeped in FL you will discover there's a lot more going on under the hood.
