Hi to all!
I just create my account to giving the thanks to Renich for the tutorial and Beerhunnter for build and upload the rpm packages for Fedora. I hope that Bitwig developers officially support rpm soon.
Bitwig is awesome! the only software thath keep me still using windows was Ableton Live but with Bitwig I can say bye at all to Windows! Is nice that the Bitwig developers had considering Linux too.
Cheers from México!

Thanks for the tip. It's gotten much better with funtoo. I've compiled my own non-realtime/tickless/hi-resolution clock kernel. It works greatBeerhunter wrote:Hey Renich,
i got pretty stable latency with the the Kernel from CCRMA, running Bitwig with 128 samples and
24-28 Tracks with a bunche of plugins without getting x-runs. Jack runs with a Buffer of 128 as well (5.8ms latency), in RT Mode.
In General i start JACK first, then Bitwig. Shutdown the Bitwig engine, stop Jack, restart Jack and restart Bitwigs Engine.
If i do not restart the whole setup, i´m getting xruns as well, hope this may help you.
greetings and enjoy your weekend.![]()

Also, there is an overlay that provides bitwig for funtoo. https://github.com/dstien/dstien-portage
Sorry, this is OOT of this thread.

@ Benstone, Welcome.
I am pretty impressed how much "noise" Bitwig did make, greetings from Germany
I don´t mind if Bitwig keep focused on deb packages.... cause it would be extra work for them, an due to the fact that their team is pretty small an they are pretty fast when it comes to fixes and stuff, the don´t have the man-power to provide it. Honestly i am pretty happy with this way, so the community can do some stuff and help out.
@ Renich, sounds great meanwhile you´re running a gentoo OS and Bitwig is performing pretty nice for your needs.
Just a short question, why do you run non-rt ? Don´t you have any problems with beeing "in time"? What is the lowest latency you get ? Is your audio stuff just MIDI based ?... would be surprising cause your tracks doesn´t sound like they are just MIDI
i´m just asking because most people recommend an rt-kernel for audio... maybe i am wrong... not that i see any need of changing my setup.
so i am just interested.
greetings

@beerhunter
Do you think it would be feasible to add your RPM to the RPM Fusion (http://rpmfusion.org/) repository? It's for example the repository in which Valve's Steam RPM is packaged and hosted as they also focus on Debian.

@DoubleM
i don´t know if it wouldn´t take to much of my time to keep the repo up to date.... i don´t know right now. I would like to have an easier way to do that....

I created a folder in Mega for RC versions and one for stable ones, so don´t worry if you can´t find older packages or so.
by the way 1.1.2-RC1 is born, so make sure you got the latest stuff and fixes and check out

greetings and enjoy the little piece of snow if you can.

Well, honestly, I think the rt-kernel is not needed for these apps. I do not have under runs anymore. The latency goes down toBeerhunter wrote: @ Renich, sounds great meanwhile you´re running a gentoo OS and Bitwig is performing pretty nice for your needs.Just a short question, why do you run non-rt ? Code: Select all
configuring for 48000Hz, period = 128 frames (2.7 ms), buffer = 3 periodsBack to the rt-kernel, the guys at the funtoo IRC channel react to that with paraphrased phrases like: "I don't understand why people think they need rt-kernel for audio..."; while suggesting to improve your kernel with the high-resolution timer and making it tickless.

@ Renich, okay got it. I guess everyone uses what fit´s him best.
so today the Bitwig Team is extremly fast, so version 1.1.2 final is out.
check out

I had to remove the 1.1.2-RC1 first, to get the installer working correct.

I just had the idea to count all the plugin effects i use in the current project i am working on...
Never thought that i used so many
I got 27 Audio and Midi tracks + 5 subchannels and on all these Tracks i used 94 plugins, by the way just the one shiped with Bitwig.
All running with 5.8ms.
okay, on an Intel Xeon Quadcore with Hyperthreading @ 3.3Ghz, but still impressiv..

Hey guys,
i am happy
to announce that the latest project i was working on, is now finished.
I guess all in all i did spend 4 or 6 month on it, rearranging, improving, messing around with latency problems etc., notice, i did not work full-time on it.
I thought it would be nice to share it with you, so beside the package stuff there is sth. more

@ DoubleM, just keep in mind that the Bitwig Team is pretty small, they´re just 4 people as far as i know, and 3 of them are developers.. So everything apart coding and reading mails, fixing broken or malefuctional things is "kind of luxury" i guess.

hey guys,
just got an E-Mail from Fernando working @ Planet-CCRMA, he told me that he needs the sourcecode to compile it, so it´s not possible for him to put Bitwig on his repository. :/ but i guess he did not get what i want exactly.....
