Yeah I'm surprised they didn't offer different sized GUIs like with impOscar 2. I think one of the things that delayed the imposcar 2 was the improved browser (which they also didn't add here) and in that time they also added different size GUIs. I wonder if they plan on doing similar things for this. Obviously it's a different team coding it (Ohm guys I guess?), so who knows. I don't mind the GUI size but I don't have super high res.

Would be great to see a larger or resizable GUI.
I'm a big fan of Gforce and have M-Tron, VSM & impOSCar. I would have bought Oddity 2 but for this. My eyesight is poor and the GUI was just too difficult for me.

I hope they revisit this.

They should at least have a version that retrofits the sliders with the lights, a popular Odyssey mod... :)

Been trying it tonight. Lovely sound, but the gui labels kill my eyes. Just wouldnt be able to sit and make sounds on it. Shame, got a lovely retro sound.

GUI sucks ass, sorry but no excuse making such awful GUIs anymore, it's like Arturia.....

The GUI is absolutely fine. UNLESS you have a super high res screen and don't know the GUI. But this is the case for so many GUIs. If you think this is bad, you could never use the Korg synths! Or most of NI synths and half of any other synth or effect you could think of. Re-sizing is becoming more important because different screen resolutions for sure, but it's a good default size.

Horrible GUI , but Fantastic sound !
One weird thing is that the 4035 filter mode on the Oddity sounds much more like the 4023 filter in my Whiteface Odyssey.
Especially the sounds you can get when you crank up the Resonance...this is the reason I always liked the MK1 more than the MKII

Anyone with an Odyssey that noticed this too ?

The gui size is fine, no hi-res monitor here... its the font and size of text that is usable here.

I'd agree, compared to Oddity v1 it's positively huge! I'd agree the option should be there to increase the size of the GUI but if people took the time to read the (very short) manual they wouldn't have to rely on the labeling on the interface so much as the colour coding helps make sense of the original Odyssey layout (which does a few things in a rather odd manner compared to the MiniMoog).

Plus there are some really innovative touches like the mouse vertically for large parameter changes/mouse horizontally for precise parameter changes (without the need for any hot key mod of any kind). This is great because it allows you to carry on playing with one hand whilst tweaking in a precise manner with the other. Obviously not a touch on a hardware interface but a lot of thought has been put into making the best of mouse based interactions.

The most important thing is that it sounds great. I'm sure concerns about the interface will be taken on board by the team at GForce. Unlike the likes of Arturia they respond to their loyal customers although it must be said they pay little heed to pissy comments on public forums.

Yes this is something all plugins devs should strive to do - requiring musicians to take their hands away from the keyboard just to get fine control is a programmers concept of an interface, not a musicians.

They tweaked the 4023 model to adapt it's character (and I love what they've done as it complements the other two models really nicely). Here's what the manual has to say on the 4023 model:

"4023: This filter was used in the early ‘whiteface’ Odysseys and is a 12dB filter more akin to that found on the Oberheim SEM than anything ARP or Moog. While retaining the 2-pole 12dB element, Oddity2’s version of this filter is slightly different in that we’ve added a bit of grit to its tone and also backed-off the resonance to avoid self-oscillation. This is because both the 4035 and 4075 self-oscillate with their own characteristics. Our 4023 is a little more ‘creamy’ without attenuating the bottom end at high resonance as much as the other two modes."

That wasn't aimed at you but some people have been rather 'baby & bathwater' in their criticism of the interface.

When the Imposcar 2 came out there was some criticism of the presets system and GForce took those critical points on board and made some tweaks on the next update.

sure, but i cant see them making any gui changes, they are obviously happy with it, its pretty much the same as V1....

I get the requirement for a larger GUI to facilitate larger/clearer fonts but the layout is based on the Odyssey because it's an emulation and once you get used to it's idiosyncratic ways it makes a lot of sense. I think there's a very good chance that they'll offer a choice of GUI size options at some point as high pixel density monitors are becoming the norm for the majority of musicians.

But if you don't get on with the ARP Odyssey's workflow you're not going to get on with the Oddity v1 or v2 and there are plenty of other options out there.

But as I said originally, the important thing for me with Oddity2 is the way it sounds and ease with which you can program it once you become accustomed to the layout.
