Sounds great! Like I do with any sw/hw I get, I've been running it through my audio obstacle course and, because it sounds so good, I'm lovin' it. <BIG FAT SMILE> I'm glad to see that Presswerk is really it's own thing, though it tips it's hat to some of the standards.
I'm confident that, as happened with Satin (I know that my Satin issues were a pain to resolve), they'll get sorted out. But sonically, Presswork is there. You guys have great ears and clearly strive to hit the mark you hear in your heads, without compromising. That's worth far more to me than all the bells and whistles that are expected in an app nowadays. Props, again. Satin, Zebra and now Presswerk will be used almost daily on something here.
Best - Don
So ya, allow all floating dialogues to be moved completely away from covering the plugin UI is what I say!
Essentially what you're asking for requires a single instance of the plugin, mind you whose GUI is restricted to a window within your DAW, to spawn a second window within your DAW belonging to the same instance. I'm not aware of any plugins that do this (at least not AU in Logic; perhaps things are different in other DAWs and with VSTs). I suspect this is out of spec.
btw, the MeldaProduction plugins do exactly that and it's awesome (and in AU in Logic). I'm not a fan of his GUI styles, but the feature is certainly there. I'm with gwok and would be excited about this feature.
P.S. I know this is my first post here and I don't mean to criticize. I recently bought Presswerk and am loving it.

I think I brought it up in another thread, and don't quite me on this, but the general reply was this was something they wanted to do, but it is something in their coding platform or whatever, so once it was built it would start to make it's way into all thier plugins, though is not going to happen overnight. But hey, over a couple months, why not?
That's not a quote, just a vague memory of something
With Bazille, I use the gearporn skin, so the mapping gens float - which is totally sweet, they're wicked, though outside the bounds of the UI would be the shnizzle

In regards to the current behaviour though, I would say that it would be nice if the browser retained it's position after closing and reopening the plugin. Or have the default position at the bottom of the UI.

I'm trying to copy the UAD SSL channel strip compressor sound with fast attack (on a drums sub master) and I can't quite reach the same sound. Is it because Presswerk is not doing VCA?

No, it's possibly just because it's not an SSL emulation. Simple as that, basically.DaGu wrote:I'm trying to copy the UAD SSL channel strip compressor sound with fast attack (on a drums sub master) and I can't quite reach the same sound. Is it because Presswerk is not doing VCA?
PW's fastest attack is 0.1ms, but this still has to be taken with a grain of salt. The overall envelope is smoothed and partly passes multiple filter and weighing stages. This design has been chosen to make the plugin behave nice and controlled under most circumstances, and especially under abuse. It's still fast but there might be devices that react faster, probably at the cost of ripple and intermodulation.

latest version on Presswerk includes some "vintage" presets which are meant as "init" patches mimicking certain classic models.DaGu wrote:I'm trying to copy the UAD SSL channel strip compressor sound with fast attack (on a drums sub master) and I can't quite reach the same sound. try the 4000 Chan hard/fast patch...play with release to adapt.
VCA type of compression in general? maybe try relatively small RMS times..

We've added a bunch more presets, edited the manual and rounded it off into a release candidate:
