Tone2 will release Icarus - 3D WaveTable Synthesizer

So now we know that it well be a wavetable synth with some advanced wavetable editing options and adjustable per-oscillator stereo unison. Such acheticture should be potentially enough to make most sounds needed for contemporary electronic music (at least it may cover large potion of sounds I need for my psytrance productions) and at the same time it should be easy to understand and exploit it to the utmost.
The question is how it will sound. Can't wait to hear some clips. Judging form the selection of presets in their Electra2 it seems that Tone2 guys gererally love the same synth sounds as I do. Also the sound quality of their synths has improved over the years ( I have Saurus 1 and Saurus 2 demo installed alongside and Saurus2 has more detailed and interesting sound - i wish they weren't charging that much for the upgrade). I hope, for Icarus they did their best soundwise and didn't trade sound quality or tweakability for CPU efficiency.

That's good to know. I, for one, have a modern PC which handles the synths like Spire 1.0.20 or Diversion pretty well, so I would choose sound quality over CPU efficiency where there is a tradeoff between those.Ingonator wrote: The sound quality of Icarus does not seem to suffer from too many CPU efficiency tweaks.

Yeah !! I mean we can't have opinions contrary to others without being labeled a ' troll ' nowwagtunes wrote:If you're just going to troll this thread because you don't like Tone 2 stuff how about just for once not? Well, to be fair, things are not exactly like that. If someone add something ON TOPIC disagreeing or stating differently from what is being said/advertised, then, I don't think he/she can be accused of trolling.
OTOH, if someone takes the fact that a company he/ she has something against to start bashing without relating to the topic (even remotely), then THAT may be seen as trolling.
The Fluffy post is somehow in a grey area. He commented on the way Tone 2 usually market their stuff, using superlatives, pompous adjectives, diferente nomenclatures for things that sometimes are common or "not so advanced" as they may imply, etc. As a user of Tone 2, I must confess that, while I like their products, I too would prefer a somehow lower profile approach.
Very curious about this Icarus, though. Let's hope it doesn't fly too close to the sun and get burned, as it happened to his ancester

Following this logic, Saurus should extinct and Gladiator should be killed by other synths for someone's fun.fmr wrote: Let's hope it doesn't fly too close to the sun and get burned, as it happened to his ancester

Dude, being a Tone2 shill, you're not just going to walk in here and sprinkle your magical hype dust and all will be peachy keen and warm and fuzzy and lovey dovey. You know? Not to go against you Ingo because I respect you and all you do, but don't you realize why this happens? Also, what happened here years ago? It will never go away as long as some of us are still alive. He publicly started attacking users for simple feature requests, blamed every bug on user error...The list goes on and on. You don't do that! The guy is screwy and he not only destroyed a company partnership as it stood, (which the other company is now probably better off for it) but he also burned every bridge here at KVR. The only place to have a positive conversation about Tone2 products would be at the Tone2 forums which was erected for that very reason. I actually don't mind some censorship at times, but it's really bad over there to the point of the place being pretty much a ghost town. Also his hyped up, vaguely detailed, marketing blurb treats everyone as if they were idiots to the point of being offensive. Not to mention that yes, not matter how much one tries to spin it, every Tone2 product sounds the same to a lot of users. Not to mention thay are all hideous looking and the names are stupid. See, that's my opinion. I have a right to say that!!!! Look, if people like Tone2 stuff that's fine. I'm not telling everbody not to buy Tone2 products. But, you're never going to come here, and receive 100% positive comments in every Tone2 thread. This place reaches a lot of people dude. Do you think he will ever deserve the positive publicity from a community that he told to go f*** itself? Then send shills to market his synths here at KVR clean in, clean out? Sorry bro for speaking up.Ingonator wrote:Do you really think that for someone like me that is involved with testing and doing sound design for Tone2 for a while now posting at KVR is always fun if you are attacked most of the time?Ingo

Correct me if i'm wrong, but from all that i read from him, Ingo is merely a beta tester for Tone2, and someone who really likes their synths. You don't have to see a conspiracy and enemies behind every corner. And i very well can understand why the dev told the people here to go f*** themselves considering what mostly happens with Tone2 threads here. E.g. it's nobody's business which copy protection they use. It's not open source software or something. If you have a problem with it, or suspect it does something it shouldn't do on your computer, there's an easy way, get rid of the software, and never use it anymore, and never buy from the company anymore. I surely wouldn't. And it's also the best thing you can do, because arguing on the internet doesn't help anyone.
And that all after i didn't want to get involved in stuff like this anymore. But seriously, i don't think this is one bit reasonable, sorry.

No matter what you do, just never ever talk about it. Especially not in a forum.chk071 wrote:... E.g. it's nobody's business which copy protection they use. This especially goes for copy protection, marketing blah, GUI design, whatever.
Seriously?
