I have just used Native Access for the first time (up until now, have used Service Center).. went smoothly, apart from the following..
Despite the fact that Native Access Preferences allows you to define locations, I ran into a problem with one standalone Application (Guitar Rig 5, as it happens, but the problem isn't related specifically to Guitar Rig 5).. it updated Guitar Rig 5 to an installation on the wrong disk! It turns out that (although I had never run into this previously, because always downloaded from Service Center, then installed manually), in Service Center, the location was still set for my previous disk.
In other words, the locations, as set in Service Center, still apply even when using Native Access, contrary to what its preferences would suggest (fortunately, this was the only product with an outdated location in Service Center ;) )
But the next issue is more serious for me (and I read, earlier, that I am not the only one who ran into this)..
I, too, like to keep my (Mac) installer files intact, for backup purposes, but Native Access deletes them immediately (I have since.. too late :x :clown: .. discovered a Preference in Service Center to not delete installer files after use.. but of course I'll have to wait until the next thing I need to update via Native Access, to see if that fixes this for me).
.. and.. once updated via Native Access, they are no longer available from there, and.. worse still.. they don't even appear in Service Center updates (with the exception of Kontakt 5.6.. goodness know why that would be any different from anything else) and wasn't there, somewhere along Service Center's history, the option to see all available downloads, not just the ones you hadn't already downloaded? Don't see that any more :? :( ) .. and, despite Evil Dragon's encouraging post, above, the NI website simply redirects to Native Access (vicious circle :P ), or in a couple of instances, visible, but without a Download button!
So, I see no way to download the update installer files that I have already used.
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

Temporary (unsatisfactory) workaround.. put all previous versions back in place (thank heaven for Apple's Time Machine!), then at least Service Center will see them, then download from there.. unacceptable, IMHO.

Darn it! I thought it had worked (tried it after my "workaround", above, but only on one single update, Guitar Rig 5).. it worked for Guitar Rig 5, but then I tried Reaktor 6, and it still disappeared after downloading :(.. and.. not even seen in Service Center (I guess I'd also have to roll back all its plugin versions too.. grrrr!)

N.I. really need to sort this out.. just be able to re-download any product (presumably from within Native Access, if the idea is that it is supposed to make product management simple).

i hope it has not been mentioned before. i just downloaded the new kontakt and reaktor updates via the service center because i prefer to do the installations manually. when i started the installation i realized that the installation of the vst plugins was disabled (for both installers). with the previous updates this was always enabled because i had the vst plugins installed before. after manually enabling the option for the vst plugin installation the correct paths to my earlier installations were given and the installation went smoothly. so imho a problem with the kontakt and reaktor installers.
cheers

Substance just out by Output, and they timed it horribly, making it available for v5.5.1 and up, instead of being one of the first devs to require v5.6 :P

Regardless what path I have set in Access, they erased the previous VST plugin AND DID NOT install the new ones.

Thank you for that shit N.I.

Same here. Had to do a complete re-install (the application, not the library ofcourse).

It could be just me, but I will not be able to use the update, unless I hide the keyboard (assuming we still can). Which sucks, as I like using it.

I have a seizure disorder, and just looking at any image of the interface for a even a second, because of the way the gradations are randomly done around the little squares for the "lights", makes them (the blank squares) dance around all over the place.

I can't look down at it without becoming (essentially) "transfixed", and my eyes spazzing-out. Looking away, that visual anomaly of 'movement', persists for 10-20 minutes.

If you zoom in on any screen grab, you can see that neither the lines, nor the gradations on/around the stupid "boxes" for the lights, (which should be an option for those with the NI controller) are uniform anywhere across the KB.

The phenomena is not unlike this:

Interesting, please report to NI as an Accessibility issue (not just feature request).

This is the first time I've heard about Native Access. Would anyone mind answering the following questions?

1. Is NA a full replacement for the Service Center?

2. Is NA "mandatory" or can it be used instead of the Service Center?

3. Do you download files from within NA (so that the installer files are "gone" after installation? Or can you also download separate installer files ans still use NA?

4. What are the (dis-) advantages of NA over the Service Center?

Thanks in advance, Skorpius

Post

1. No, there's a list of supported products for NA. It will very likely grow with time.

2. It is supposed to be used ALONG SC, if you own Komplete 10 or 11.

3. Download is within NA and installer is removed after installation.

4. Personally I didn't find any - one huge benefit is that you don't really need to type serial number for the product/library from within Kontakt, it's all done automatically after install.

You should get reply to install all updates for Windows 8 or upgrade to Windows 10

On OSX 10.10 k5.6 works without any problem
I'm on x64 Win 7 though.

Anyone know of a way to install without uninstalling first?

Fwiw update went fine for me, W7 64
Great, there is hope. I had to roll back. Luckily I was able to install my last downloaded version. Had I not saved it this Native Access installation system would have been a problem. Is there no way to download update installers anymore. Searched but could not find. If true it's a sucky system IMPO.

For the people having problems with wrong install locations, you can give the VST Tool a try on Windows. It will move the VSTs to the correct folder, but more important, also update their locations in the registry.

I had no big problems here with Native Access, except two older Magware products are listed as demo, while they work fine in Service Center.
