They could have gone to heaven for all I care, it doesn't change the fact once on Gearslutz someone claims something is terribly off and doesn't sound or act (or, to the contrary, is 100% nailed, sounds and acts), he must be able to prove it. All they do now is yap, yap, yap, I don't see any comparisons being posted.

As I said, dev won't do it, but at least he doesn't jump up and down with a foam at mouth, claiming he created best thing since the sliced bread. These forum guys, however, are on the mission to bash and disprove everything. But they can't prove it. So hardly any "experts" there.

The dbags there can't even be bothered to trial the plugin these days, what A/B tests are we talking about?

There was this piece of turd named Tui, a self-proclaimed expect on Gearlutz, going around every u-he thread, taking crap on Urs Heckmann and Repro-5 synth especially, unless Urs caught that moron by his ass and put him in the trash bin, when that bag of douchy dicks couldn't prove what he was claiming and provide A/B tests. I was most pleased with that outcome. Urs owned his ass, publicly humiliated him and the disgraced dbag soon left the forum for good. Good riddance.

Since Nembrini simultaneously released the 501 on iOS, you can find a much better discussion here among that crowd. https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/5910 ... eleased/p1

Quite. I left there after the name change, it was crap anyway. So there's one guy who says it doesn't act like a 501: doesn't give any credentials, examples etc. He may be right but I need more than that as evidence.

The rest are comparing it to 201 models. That's all I need to know about that place

well I liked it on GS, bought it and used it alot in the last days, used it in these 2 tracks

Tape Echoes is not a strict emulation of either the 201 or the Echoplex. It's an all purpose "analog tape delay" plugin meant to sound "dirty". I have no idea if it sounds 'more like' a 201 or an Echoplex, but I'm guessing it doesn't sound exactly like either. So what makes it 'closer' to an echoplex, in actual audible terms? Did you compare with hardware? With a highly regarded echoplex emulation? Or...?
jamcat wrote: Tue Jan 09, 2024 6:26 am Valhalla doesn't have a Space Echo emulation either.
In the sense that Valhalla doesn't make emulations of anything, ever, sure. But the 'tape' mode on Valhalla Delay is absolutely designed to give results like old tape delays including the 201.

The slutz all left. What they left is an empty space.

Anyway, I think any dev developing an emulation which has the claim to be close to the real deal should provide some A/B examples. It's a bit of a shame that they go to length comparing hardware and software while developing, and then don't provide a single sound example... Or maybe, you could say that it figures.

I'd believe it that the Nembrini model isn't terribly accurate. That's been my experience with pretty much everything from Nembrini. Just check out the free stuff. It's not bad per se, it's just not terribly accurate.

Compare the Nembrini NA 808 to The Scream from Cytomic. No contest.

Or compare NA Clon Minotaur to The Klone from Fazertone. Both are free. Fazertone's is done with machine learning, like TONEX, and sounds extremely similar to the Klon Centaur captures in TONEX. But the Nembrini model is way off.

Or compare the Nembrini NA Wah to, well, your own memory of a wah. In no reality system is that what a wah sounds like.

So is the Nembrini NA 501 going to break the mold and sound authentically like a Roland RE-501? I'm not counting on it.

I will say I really like the Nembrini NA Big Stuff. It's way too hot compared to a real Big Muff, but it does sound really nice.

Still, I will be waiting for the Audiority SRE-555 (rackmounted RE-501). Because you know that will be legit.

Interesting tidbit: everyone talks about the Space Echo with names like "Outer Space" and "Galaxy" and other far out, cosmic metaphors, but actually, Roland meant for it to be an echo chamber. The 'space' in Space Echo was meant as in an open space, like a chamber, or a room.

In fact, it even started life as the Ace Tone Echo Chamber, before Ace Tone was reborn as Roland.
spAce Tone Echo Chamber?

Outer Space and Galaxy sound more exciting than Bathroom Echo and Basement Echo, don’t you think?

I'll just keep using the RE-20 connected to Aux 1 on my console instead.
