The only thing I don't like about this plugin is when you move modules, there is an animation that makes it feel sluggish... Damn I wish it was instant, no animation, don't care about those things.

Please could someone tell me what 'PA' stands for in 'PA Default' under Full Reset in the Factory Presets, and what purpose would you use it for?

I got a good explanation from Waves Tech Support:

"Many of our plugins have a PA Default preset, these are meant to be a good starting point for Live sound applications."

I really like using this channel strip - Andrew Scheps and Waves have come up with something very special. It's so straightforward to use, doesn't use up much CPU and helps make your mixes sound great!

Hmm...but this "good explanation" doesn´t give the answer to the question itself, what does the PA stand for.

The PA (public address) systems - mixing boards, speaker stacks and amplifiers etc they use at live gigs.

I know what PA is in the sound /stage system. This is referred even in this thread - but does it mean same here, I think that´s the question.

Well, I'm just going to have to wait until this thing goes on sale.

That thread I started here about not hearing anything with all these damn channel strips? No such problem with this one. The vocal and piano demos on the video I listened to were amazing. I can't believe you can get all those different flavors out of one plugin. For the first time, I am truly blown away by what this thing can do.

Yes, obviously you need to know what you're doing with it because I'm sure you can make it sound like crap if you don't. But at least I can hear the potential is there.

$149 is a little steep, especially when I know what Waves plugins eventually go for. Sorry I missed the intro sale but that's life.

Finally. A channel strip where I can actually HEAR something.

On the desktop version of the KVR site, there's an ad in the upper right showing it as $149, presumably due to either an oversight or a very odd marketing decision.

It is an annoyance, but I'm not moving things so constantly to be really affected. What IS getting to me is the jumpiness of the knob animation. The sound transition is smooth, as is the number readout. However, the animation on the knobs is not.

I really appreciate the zoom function (reveals extra controls), but I would also love the option of having a much larger, one-screen, panel that displays it all.

Not sure how anyone could have difficulties hearing what channel strips do; They are just combinations of sound-shaping tools, after all. The benefits of channel strips are in the workflow, and in the matching of component design etc. I have a few of them, and generally prefer working with them in lieu of a screen full of distinct gui's that need to be constantly juggled around.

I do enjoy this strip over the others I have, because each of my others lacks in certain functions that mean I can't rely on them, solely. Even this had me pining for the full graphical parametric of Wavearts' Trackplug. While I do like having the 'just use your ears' knob approach to eq, there are times when I want the full display, more flexibility, and to not have to search outside the plug for other options.

To that end, I bought the Hybrid 'H-eq', also on sale from Waves (Cheaper at everyplugin). Due to SOC's ability to host an extra plugin from the Waves collection, I can call up H-eq any time I want, and operate it from within the Channel strip. This avoids the extra gui issue (It's perfectly framed within the normal plugin window, and can be placed anywhere in the Channels signal flow. That's Genius!
