No, you haven't learned your lesson.
- You purchased directly from the product maker, which is a form of support. You spoiled this by moaning as if something very bad happened and it's a big deal.
- They don't offer discounts, so you didin't overpay one euro cent.
- Currency transaction on paypal is expensive but that is not u-he's fault. When I buy something from the US, I pay customs duty and that is normal. Consider paying through paypal as a form of customs duty.
- Hey, there are resellers, there are also second hand licences here on the kvr market, which are even cheaper. So you 'overpaid' even more - why not buy a second hand license, if you're so stingy.
- Final lesson - ignorance will cost you money but that is normal, you can't know everything, noone does.

Why not move on to something else?
Because I keep getting replies like this painstakingly outlining things that are either extremely obvious or have already been discussed in the thread. I'm not moving on for the same reason that you decided to post this, and for the same reason others will shortly chime in. For the same reason that no one is likely to call you out on the statement "Consider paying through paypal as a form of customs duty" but we can argue for 2 pages about my use of the term "sales tax" in quotation marks.

Because this is the internet and everyone has to protect the hive, and most of all everyone has to be right.

Me too.
The whole claim is quite dubious.

It's not that dubious. If you buy Zebra 2 directly at U-he and go through the USD conversion with Paypal it ends up being roughly $243. If you go to JRR and punch in the coupon code "group" you get it for around $167. That's roughly a $80 difference without any sale.

As much as we all love U-he products (rightly so, I might add), I can see why this can be somewhat frustrating.

He should disclose the real numbers after these attacks.
That would be fair.
Otherwise... :dog:

Well damn, that means I overpaid for Zebra2, Ace, Hive1&2 and Repro bought off of Uhe site.
Oh well when I have the funds I guess I will have to overpay for Bazille too :-)

I have zero complaints about the quality of U-He products. Everything that I bought has been of excellent quality. I made a mistake and it won't happen again.

I meant this as a joke, do not feel I have overpaid for anything.
But yeah I understand if money is tight looking for a better price can help.
Hope it helps Uhe by purchasing directly? If not at least I tried.

There should be some analog of Moaning Zone on GS. This thread should go exactly there.

That means that you never bought from a store who wants to make a special offer and sells an item underpriced. Can you complain that other stores didn't had the same discount? Jste to name biscuits, orange juice, cell phone, TV sets? Never meet special discount on, as an example, a Samsoongs TV (j st to don't infringe copyright) ? You might find it at a special price in a store which is lower than officials shop or other shops. Are you going to blame Samsoongs?

That's free market.

Yeah, you can copy a plane in your DAW and start selling licences. Very elitarian. But would it be electric?
