I just attempted to add Renoise to the options in the poll. It seems to possibly have wiped all previous votes. If this is so, the poll has ended. Unfortunately, there was no warning about this anywhere on the poll creation screen.

Not sure whether it qualifies as a DAW, it's more of a tracker on steroids with some DAW features. Don't worry, plenty of people here use Renoise judging by its kvr rank among commercial hosts, it's tenth, ahead of Reason and right behind Live.

Well i use one daw only and is Fl Studio.
In the past i've also used Ableton and Cubase, but i never felt at home. A couple of months ago i've tryed Studio One, and i like it, maybe my brain love every daw with the word "studio" in the name
I would like to learn Reaper aswell, but it look too much clunky for me, and the workflow seems too different from the 2 studios, and if my mood isn't positive i have hard time to work.

No winners; that really wasn't the point of the poll and I didn't offer a date to close the poll (this would seem to be a necessary component of a poll in which a "winner" is declared.). It's entertainment value only (or perhaps edu-tainment if one is seriously interested in what others are doing, but that is way beyond the poll's original purpose). With all the individual approaches to composition and the needs of the average DAW user, I'm not certain of what value proclaiming a winner would be. Inevitably, one needs to determine what is appropriate to one's work habits for oneself and invest one's time and money accordingly.

As far as voting for two DAWs, one should be able to do that. You are the first person to mention that this wasn't possible. FWIW (and I'm not sure if being the OP has an effect on this), I was able to vote for two DAWs and I waited several days after starting the poll to do so.

Having said that, a certain paradigm may be discerned: it could be possibly be demonstrated that Bitwig and Live exist for a very different purpose in peoples' minds than the rest of the DAWs mentioned. I say this because there seemed to be a gap in the number of votes those two DAWs received and the others, as if these two applications were splitting a part of the votes that expressed a similar interest,concern, or need. This may not be the reason for the discrepancy in votes, of course, but it's plausible.

For a time all I had was a Korg Esx-1 sampler. That’s how I learned to sample, and that sampling was what I was best at. So the rules where only that machine, and every element I used had to be something I sampled off a song (kick, snare, bass, chords, etc). No sample libraries! I stuck to that machine and it’s limitations for years. Eventually my esx-1 broke down, and I tried to replace it with the newer version but I didn’t like it. Plus all it did was try to push you in the box with its “usb integration”. So I finally surrendered and decided to go all in the box. And lo and behold Logic has this simple quick sampler that allows me to audition my samples with the sequencer running (I tried ultrabeat and esx-1 but the never worked for me.) And it’s been great. Honestly quick sampler is the only instrument I use and need. It’s has everything I need to work with a sample: pitch, envelope, filter, modulation, slice mode, time stretch, and it will pitch a sample across the keyboard if you want it to — it’s amazing! A project will be 20 instances of quick sampler. Some reverb, modulation, Eq and compressor is all I need. I bought some third party plug ins, but I know realize I didn’t need them. The only one I really need is Soundtoys Decapitator for saturation. Other than that logic has everything.

And if you want to experiment with samples, Logic's Alchemy is outstanding. It has granular plus spectral and additive re-synthesis which is very high quality.

Yeah alchemy is certainly the next frontier! I now realize that instead of having spent money on plug ins, I should have spent time diving deeper into logic. I recently bought and read some books on production and mixing, and that has helped more than any “analog modeling” ever could. It sounds cliche at first, but unfortunately it’s true. You can’t just spend your way to good sound. Point being that I now I need to spend more time using and learning alchemy. When you first start learning logic it’s daunting, but I think I’m far along on the learning curve to take alchemy on soon (I’m currently trying to master live loops).
