UPDATE: It appears the GUI for CV-n (n=1,2,3) runs unusably slow on one monitor vs the other. On the other, it's fine. Not ultra fast but usable. Both are connected to the same video card. So there is some kind of video funkiness going on, at least with me. I let AAS know.

I've been having a problem CV-x (1,2,3) where the GUI is very laggy. I click on a UI element and it takes seconds for an action. It's pretty much unusable. I am on an old machine but that shouldnt make a difference. Otherwise CV plays ok. Wondering if anyone else has this problem. Im on a macpro 5,1 12-core macOS12.

Great review and worth the read whether you have it, or are just thinking about it. :tu:

I just picked up this new version . . . downloading now. It looks great, just like all AAS plugins. The reviews got me excited.

"(A) Full set of AAS physical modeling tools, and the magic happens once you start combining modules." These guys are the leader in physical modeling . . . can't wait to check this out.

I think CV3 is pretty much up to (or surpassing) Tassman level for physical modeling. I fired up the last version of Tassman 4 to check resonators and generators. Here's the list:

Resonators

Beam
Bowed Beam
Bowed Marimba
Bowed Membrane
Bowed Plate
Bowed String
Marimba
Membrane
Plate
String
Tube
Tube4

Generators

Constant
Flute
LFO
Mallet
Noise Mallet
Organ
Player
Plectrum
Sync LFO
Tonewheel
Vco
Vcs

There's obvious naming differences, but just the Objec Oscillator, Tube Oscillator, Pluck and Pulse cover a lot of that same ground.
The Objec Oscillator by itself has these to choose from:
Rectangular membrane
Drumhead
Rigid plate
String
Marimba
Beam
and you can modulate between them.
Plus there's a lot of cool stuff in CV3 that was missing from Tassman.
I'm pretty happy with CV3. :tu:

very likely for this only reason, the 1st version of tassmann was released on the the beginning of this century, imagine that !

BTW I just downloaded it...

Yes - it was very advanced. They got it almost all right.
Fixing a few glitches and UI snags might have given it a longer life,
but there's probably more involved with that than I know.

Anyone know how to download the CV3 manual to be able to look something up without being online?

Does that mean the pdf manual isn’t just ready yet? I guess so - we have to be patient or need a html to pdf converter…

Post

Yes - I was hoping there was a pdf version.

I found a bug in CV-3 that is present in the previous versions that causes the GUI to lag to the point of being unusable. I have emailed with AAS about it but they dont seem to care. So, try the demo and if you get a laggy GUI dont expect a fix.
