Wow, I just finished downloading the guitar soundfont and now this! If the pricetag ends at $20 and you include that bassy reggae-ish SF I'm *definitely* paying up... should be all I need bass-wise for a long time hopefully. That Trilogy always look tempting, but damn that pricetag...

You should definitely check out the SFZ sample player, and most importantly, the SFZ sample format. That format can be edited with a text editor if you want, and someone has also created a free graphical editor as well. The SFZ format goes far beyond the capabilities of soundfonts, and offers many features that you would only expect to find in an expensive program like Giga, Halion, or Kontakt.geoffkhan wrote:For the future, I would like to start sampling instruments in a sampler that has a bit more power. The coolest thing I can do in Soundfonts is release samples. I would like to do mod wheel and all that fancy stuff.
Even though the basic SFZ player can be had for free, it is extremely well made and very, very versatile--especially when playing SFZ format sample sets. You can do all sorts of fancy things with your samples, this file format, and the free SFZ player. The quality is also immaculate. You can use practically any bit depth and sample rate you would ever need to use, and if your sample set grows very large, there is streaming direct-from-disk support.
Can you tell that I really like format and sample player?
I'd love to hear some of your excellent bass samples in the SFZ format.

For the record, I don't work for rgcaudio. I just love the potential of the SFZ format, and the quality of their sample players. You could showcase your bass samples with maximum flexibility and quality, and the end user can play them on a free or inexpensive sample player.
take care,

But only for soundfonts, not for discrete samples or sfz-format sample sets. And René says it's not going to happen, either.McLilith wrote:and if your sample set grows very large, there is streaming direct-from-disk support.
More sfz bits, including my version of the manual.

Even without the streaming, it's one wicked solution imo!

Geoff, all your demos sound fantastic! This is exactly the "real" sound that I was looking for - for a long time! Finally it sounds like a real band when I listen to those demos (I actually played drums and bass in bands so I know how the real instruments sound). Your samples are perfect! I will buy your bass sounds, guitar sounds, drum sounds, whatever you sample! You must have perfect ears.

Finished that deep bass soundfont (where you use your thumb near the neck) and also the Rocco funk bass (which is simply awesome, I put so much effort into it). I want to make one more sound, which is a reggae bass soundfont. Then all I need to do is clean them up and we'll be good to go!

Hastily-sequenced Rocco bass demo:

The bass solo is just the fingered bass soundfont going through a few effects.

Holy Carp!!! I wouldn't even think twice about that being a real bass...incredible. You're on your way to sample-library stardom, man.
