After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, I *finally* got hold of the BFD Demo from the Computer Music DVD at Borders. I had high expectations about what to expect from this program, given all of the hype I'd been reading 'round the Net.

So how is it?

It's blown my fookin' ears off. :hihi: I'm using it with an older DK-10 controller, which is the little brother to the Drum Kat. This is the first time I've had real FUN playing MIDI drums, taking me back to my trap-set days of yore (I play keys these days). Killer control over the kit sound, and very useful controls for adjusting the velocity and dynamics to your playing style.

If this is what the demo is like, I'm not sure I can handle the full version. I realize this is a very enthusiastic review, and I've only had it for one day, and it was quite a PITA to install from DVD--

but--

color me amazed and grinning from ear to ear.

Finally found one at Borders on West End thanks again guys... Any interest in having a Nashville area Tracktion get-together?

Post

I was thinking about that, since it seems there are alot of people that seem to be from Nashville. I'm up for it.

If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

I'll start a separate nashville users thread

It's the August issue. I only say this because one store I called and asked couldn't seem to find an issue number. Don't know why, it's right there.

The Barnes and Noble in Alpharetta (just north of Atlanta) had 3 or 4 copies of issue 89 last night. Be sure to look in the computer magazine area.

Jeez! I work at Borders, I visit KVR every day, and still I'm too slow for y'all. Sheesh!

Anyway, have fun with it. I know I will.
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

f**k. There's two newspaper / international press shops at the local train station, both of them don't even order CM anymore, as the folks working there told me. Those were the only shops having it in all Hannover. Guess I'm out of luck now.

Can you order one from the CM website? Usually you can, unless it's sold out.

Will have a look. Just returned from Cologne (pretty much "the" media city in germany), and even the train station press shops didn't have it. Maybe it's just too much of a lame mag in general (apart from the few usual exceptions) to be considered worthwhile.
Or maybe it's just us germans being too lame for reading english mags. But then, they had like 10 copies of FM around...

my desktop has no dvd so I just ethernet'ed my laptop with it's dvd drive to the desktop and turned on the laptops network sharing and ran the installer from there. It worked fine. Got a friend with a laptop w/ dvd and a free hour to help you out? Maybe he'll do it if you let him use the disk when you're done.
