Honestly until I see fender claiming as a midi device and it sending midi information I'm not buying it.

String sensitivity on 1??? What'dya use for a pick, a jackhammer?
Just Finger picking (no nails) or Fender Medium pics. Plenty sensitive enough for me.

Its better than the default Factory settings.

Using the YRG Control Panel, I simply changed Global Volume from "64" to "127" and String Sensitivity from "0" to "1".

I've also tried the update...

Same thing that's happening to Mr. Harrison, has happened to me - flashing music light.

looks like I have a $170 paperweight on my hand... awesome.

I've only had it for a day...

Where are you getting your YRG Update download link from ?

I understand it may be best to wait a few days. I'm not touching mine for a while, as I have stumbled on settings and firmware that work for my needs.

It stores/ runs memory thru ram.
I'm guessing somewhere along the way a double value was sent at the same time.
The reset button basically shuts off the battery clearning the ram. Which is why you have to press and hold it.

If you are prepared to try anything. take the back off and look for the internal battery. It should be a stubby cylinder the close to diameter of a AA battery but only a quarter of an inch to a half inch long. Pull it out and leave it out for 30 seconds then put it back in.

I got the download link from this YRG yahoo forum post:

It can't read that. You need to give the string a sharper attack.
Invest in a few of these -

You'll get the clear crisp attack required.
When you get em stretch em otherwise you'll feel like they are choking your fingers.

FWIW - There are zero internal backup batteries in the YRG. The four AA's provide all the power. YRG Firmware and settings are stored in Flash Non Volatile memory.
It can't read that. Buy these fingerpicks
Thanks but I'm actually very happy with the YRG as it stands now.

Are we supposed to put batteries in it?

+1 on the Squire midi. Who the hell knows?

Contact Support@Yourockguitar.com

and have them send you the "YRG Recover" app - its approx 14 MB download.

Post

Okay; I did that a dozen times; no change whatsoever. I do note the "yourock" button flashes once when I turn it on. Then the music button starts the flashing; nothing else. None of the other buttons respond at all.

I've tried it with batteries in and out; with USB cable connected and disconnected. Same response every time.

I installed the software a second time; it again reported "completed". I tried a third time and now it cannot open the files to install them.

I cannot send an email to support right now because my ISP is having problems; although I can surf and access sites like this. I think I will wait a while and try to contact tech support before I open it.

This is twice I've tried to send this; sorry if it's a dupe.

????

Thanks,
James

You are prolly fine.

If still nothing.
Find an ink pen.
Keep the usb plugged into it.
Turn off the power.
Remove the battery cover.
Put the pen in the pinhole. Keep it pressed in.
Turn on the power.

Thanks Elantric!

just wondering - where would I find the serial # on the YRG? is it the number that's handwritten on the back of the battery door?

Remove the Batteries

The Serial number is on a paper sticker stamped "YRG-000000xxxx"

HI Guys

There is an updated version of YRG firmware that includes the following updates:
1. modulation for on board sounds
2. sensitivity increased to ~ 8 (out of 10)
3. support for PC based control panel queries (for upcoming control panel
release)

You can download the PC version of the updater today from our update site. The
MAC version will follow in a day or two.

http://inspired.com/yourockguitar/updat ... pp_Win.zip

Unzip it and install it ... when you run it, it will automatically check for the
updates and download them to your computer and then install it on the guitar.

notes
1. the Library update is REALLY big ~70MB ... so please be patient - the
download is about 15 minute, the install is 5~10 depending on your machine
speed.
2. be careful ... do not disconnect the guitar while the software is installing
- you can DESTROY the guitar.
.
.
It kind of looks like you can destroy your YRG even if you follow instructions.

I'll probably try that as a last resort; but first I'll try to contact support if my ISP every gets their email service working again.

Thanks,
