So now that the eeezee's skin has finally made it useable (there are still too many buttons imo, but I'm not a sound designer), it would be great that a serious sound designer gets the best from that beast : )
A hearty +1 on that one.

The Randomize thing is cool, but it also causes a bunch of third party junk banks to weed through - Hell, I can push that a button just as easy as anyone else, and make my own random shit if I want to.

Like said, the random button is cool, and Oatmeal does a good job randomizing presets, but please don't share your random stuff with others unless you've really gone in and adjusted the results to something stellar.

IMO banks made for Oatmeal should require a disclaimer, "Not made by pressing the Random button 127 times" :hihi:

Last night I played with this amazing thing for some 4 hours...

Can't wait to get home to get some more... :harp:

So, don't use them. Or make some good banks for us, with or without random button...

i am only curious what 'cygnus-like' means... forgive my ignorance

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that random button has a bug or whatsoever, on the contrary it's so beautifully deisgned that it's actually the too obvious bassis of all the presets banks we've had so far :) (except for Tim Conrardy's maybe)

(And I can understand the temptation of hitting random button when you're faced with such a complex gui).

By 'cygnus-like' I mean, which sounds like the 'Cygnus VST' make by Krakly IIRC.

Well, above all my english sucks and some of my phrases may sound weird, I know :p

:dog: i am stupid. i forgot about Cygnus VSTi

but hey, what is wrong with sounding like Cygnus; it sounds bloody cool :)
some people like sounds like that, and Oatmeal does FX very very well.

well IMHO, of course.

but you don't like the sound of Cygnus?

I guess thats why I like Oatmeal :-)

But it can do other timbres as well.Even tho i DID use the random generator, I had to tweak the sounds quite a bit to get what I wanted from it. The Random generator is only a starting point to tweak your own sounds.

yeah, me too. :)
i use the random button as a jump-start; just to get ideas. When an interesting timbre grabs my attention, then i use it as a basis for a preset.
I think probably most people are doing the same, it's just that not everyone likes the same kind of sounds.

Funny, I just made a bank with 32 presets with the random button. Some beautiful stuff comes out that way and then you can finetune a bit.
Since I'm no preset designer I just love a good synth that has a sane randomize function. It's so inspirational.

And this one is both sane and inspirational. :D

Ok, I finally got to try this thing out, and I can see why theres so much hype. :o

I haven't read all 70-something pages of this thread, so excuse me if I've missed it, but is there some way to donate to the creator?

The random generator is part of the genius of Oatmeal, IMHO. I'm getting more and more selective about keeping its presets, listening for the truly unique sound that occasionally popsup, then storing and tweaking that sound. :D

Probably about half started with the randomizator:

Edit - it's a preset bank btw!
