On the contrary: color coding different synth regions (amp, filters, modulation) is quite helpful and could speed up the workflow significantly.

I think it is a matter of taste. Some like sober, some like colourful. I like sober with 1 or 2 colours...like it is right now btw.

For Hive the colour scheme is fine since sections are clearly separated in spacea around the gui.

I love FAW circle color coding but its a totally different design paradigm.

I think subtle colour coding can be really tasteful. It doesn't have to be limited to entire sections of the synth. I like it sometimes when important sliders are picked out in a slightly different colour, for example the cutoff knob, env amount slider, sustain slider (to denote that it's the "odd parameter out", being a level instead of a time), etc...

that is a point, as i used HIve it took a while to remember where everything was. could help for a jumpstart.

that blue-black is really good for night works.

the scale value is not saved, when you close HIVE. hive fits not on my ultrabook.

-I think Hive looks great, no complaints here. Still curious as to what will be decided re: the hexagon.

-Of the two "engine options", I select the more simple one. I'm mostly indifferent to this, because I don't find the current structure that "limiting", but if one option has to be picked, I pick the less complex one.

-I just purchased Hive, and am pleased to have it along with Zebra2. Thanks to Rob and the u-he team for getting back to my support request so quickly. I hope you had a relaxing holiday.

-To Urs and u-he team: Please do not underestimate the value of true customer support and interaction. I did loads of research years ago when deciding which "one synth" I was going to buy to learn (Zebra2 won). Outside of effects, I have not purchased any other VST synths other than u-he, and a big reason why is the support this forum provides, and the presence of Urs and others here. It seems that u-he really listens and are in tune with what the customers want. And I sincerely appreciate it. It certainly helps that your products are top-notch, but knowing you're not a deadbeat developer makes me sleep peacefully at night

Is there a way to add a delay to a non-vibrato LFO short of kinda sorta hacking it by multiplying via an envelope?

Oh and while I'm at it I'd like a Swap function in the LFO/ADSR/Filter/Osc dropdown menus, and maybe a clear/clear all" options in the Mod section.

...Or, just give me Hive's sequencer interface/workflow, the chorus and phaser, and the drag-to-target modulation system from the modmatrix for Zebra, and I won't have to buy Hive

I've spent most of the day emulating common Hive presets in Zebra and it pretty much does the job just fine. With added spice if desired. I just have to keep my synthlust in check.

Bah, I'm getting Hive anyway - at the end of the day, it's all about fun/workflow. I am collecting all the u-he synths over time (I don't use anything else third party), so might as well, regardless of need.

How about making a separate sequencer as an "MIDI Audio Unit". New stuff in Logic X. That's how Xfer got around that for Cthulu. I know its not the same since Hive is also a synth, but for what it's worth...

edit: Quick thoughts:

Interface:
Big kudos on the retina design. It looks drop-dead gorgeous. Considering there's an absolute lack of retina-ready plugins, this is such an eye-candy it's just awesome to have it on screen and look at it.

Getting around, took me 3minutes to grasp most of the design and structure (aside ARP section), very easy to start doing your own sounds straight away. One of the more intuitive synths I ever tried.

Sound:
Don't want to sound rough, but the presets bundled sound something like I'd never expect from a U-He synth. More like something from Nexus... or Rob Papen Blue? (Or is just the interface color that triggered it).

But that's not a bad thing frankly, because I don't like any of the former, and I absolutely love Hive, and it sounds fatter and meaner than the ones I mentioned. I'm still fooling around with it, to see what's it capable of beyond the "mean and dirty" polished synth sound. I was looking for a synth thats capable of such mean dirty saws.

I still have to wonder about choice of presets, were you implying something?
