Well, there certainly is a lack of good demos, and a bunch of awful ones. It remains to be seen whether this is a problem with the instrument.ironhead wrote:May be it's a lack of good demo?
My YRG may arrive July 7 or thereabouts, and I will post something useful if I'm able to create it. I'm sure it will take me some time to get used to it.
Other folks are reporting that once sensitivity issues are solved, the YRG is working very well - they just haven't posted any videos that prove that to me yet (c'mon guys, how about it? You gonna continue to let Timothy Kelly make all the vids for the YRG?)
By the way, the person who posted the Yamaha vid you linked has died. He had the best demos with the EZ-AG anywhere that I've seen... but there won't be any more.

Yay, got my YRG today, i emailed doug tuesday night, and he emailed me the next day and told me to call, so i called and they shipped it yesterday, and i got it today before i woke up. Anyways i haven't tried it with batteries yet I'm trying it with fruity loops 8 but i have a problem that i used to have before with other keyboards. When i hit a note it doesnt trigger the instrument i have selected. it triggers like all of them for different notes. Can anyone help me fix this, how do i select a instrument in fruity loops and all notes play the instrument that is selected, NOT each note triggers a different instrument. Thanks.
NM fixed, it was a problem with me assigning midi ports to a bunch of settings in the midi options

Honestly while my D&G strings have improved output they still are somewhat lacking in response. As it is a faulty hardware problem and not software related I'm reluctant to make a video with it.
Also I find it an inferior instrument to work with. This has much to do with the thin membrane strings applied to the neck.

Can you tell me when you ordered yours? I ordered mine a few nights ago, and I know they're on back order but I'd like a general idea of when it will ship.

I am order number 586, placed on June 13th. However, I think it's unlikely that the time between order and ship will be constant - too many factors playing into it.green hat wrote: Can you tell me when you ordered yours? I would imagine that you will get yours quicker than I got mine, just because they are likely getting more stock, and getting the shipping routine down, etc.
Hope you don't have to wait too long!

Maruuk, I do not agree re. EZAG and tweaking 3rd party filters. I think any DAW has simple one time applied, 30 second long midi filter setup. Cut low velocity notes, adjust the velocity curve to your liking .Maruuk wrote:Trust me, the EZ-EG is clunky and stiff too, and has far worse problems with its insane midi channelizing which forces you to use a complicated midi filter/router app between you and your DAW, and then there are major handshake issues between the app and the DAW. No thanks.
here.
I dismantled my EZAG long ago and put 2 boards into small aluminum box a bit wider than the neck, of course threw out the speaker. The string triggers were steal wires that bend piezo transducers and when released those transducer generate a pulse. I plan to get rid of strings and glue 6 transducers close to the neck to tap on them. Instrument looks tiny even compared to YRG. But still waits to connect couple of loose ends.

Hopefully! I'm order 665, so I hope they're moving big numbers soon so I can get mine quickly. I'm pretty stoked on this, I have an acoustic and an electric that a friend is letting me borrow, so it will be nice to have a peice of this caliber. Cant wait to lay down some tracks

The demo on the z5 shows some of the possiblities of the z5. However I would be reluctant to equate one z5 performance with the performanve value of a YRG.lxm wrote:this demo for the new z5 ztar actually shows whats possible IMO:
There is so much to any ztar that is amazingly different then a yrg.

So I've never actually used a midi controller and I really have experience with midi in general. Am I correct to understand that you need a seperate cable to take advantage of it? If so, how much are they, and how do the plug into the computer? I have a Dell laptop

Well, there are tech nerds who love to tweak and dabble endlessly, and there are normal guitar players who just want to make great music. I am well experienced in what you have to do to make the EZ-EG work effectively with DAWs. It is a huge hassle and frankly, not worth it, unless you have no life and a ton of time on your hands.

The YRG comes in a package in the package you will find a mini-USB to USB cable that will connect the instrument to the computer thru which you can send the midi signal.
If you have a standalone midi device that requires a standard midi cable the YRG has a midi out. Midi cables are easy to find at radio shack or at music stores or online.

Not that you would need it but midi to usb conversion cables are also everywhere and affordably priced.

Yeah that is my take on the es-eg as well. adding to that. I didn't like the feel of the buttons (I'm not against buttons just those on the yamaha) I also didn't like the pliancy of the strings on the ez-ag couldn't flatpick worth a damn on it. I didn't like the 12 fret limit and I didn't like over-sliding up past the 12th fret to acidentally engage the song button.
I did like the mute strip but I thought it was poorly placed.
