with over 70 pages of posts for replies to get lost in, it is much better to use the dedicated support ticket system
I have 2 tickets in the ticketservice, but the replies aren't always satisfying, sorry to say. Since there are so many v-machine users on this forum, i figured there must be people out here who encountered the same problems who can help me.
With so many questions
So many questions? lol. Six very direct questions. With over 75 pages of questions i didn't think that would be a problem.

I haven't swapped the drive nor opened the v-machine but those instructions may get you started.

Thank you..
But they dont say anything about HOW to swap it.
I bought a Transcend 4Gb Flash Module.
I have opened the V-Machine, and removed the original.
But you can put the new one up side down or the other way around. Theres no mark which side is right.
And theres a switch on it. You can switch between M or S??
Do I have to formate it somehow?

It should be on M.

The side on which you turn the flash drive doesn't matter, as there are NO moving parts inside. If it fits and you can close the box as it was before, it's alright.

Ok. Tank you..thats helpfull.

I also got a reply from my SM Pro ticket.
They are talking about a hole in the Transcend Flash, but there are no hole, and its to small to reach to that pin that holds the flash in place.
But it makes no difference, becouse it fits well anyway.

The big problem is to formate the disk in the right way.
Theres a zip file comming soon from SM-pro, that fix this, so I think, I'll wait for that one. With out it, it seems hard to do.

I'll have to copy the original boot to the new one somehow. Think I'll need a adapter to connect the flash disks to usb on my pc.

There is no way at the moment to use/install Tassman on the V-Machine.
We have yet to look into that, probably in the course of 2009. Thanks

Well, sad news....

THis is NOT TRUE!!!
not true....? It's march 2009 now....

things are going slow. the last software/firmware is older than one month but a lot of things to do there and crashs of the vfx-software
and some vsti are waiting to be freed :)....

BUT the v-machine is stable and a lot of plugins work on it.

none of the plugins which are important for me is working. Not tassman, not NI massive, not NI Reaktor, nothing I need. It's annoying.

And I don't like to be yelled at in big letters ("NOT TRUE!!") and afterwords / now exactly this seems to come true - sadly....

Bought it in Nov. 08 and until today the v-machine is completly useless for my purpose.

Post

some of my important plugins do not run too. but a lot of plugins work and i am happy.
but if you are not happy why havent you brought the v-machine back to the shop? if i buy anything and it do not work as described i bring it back and get my money back - easy.
but i can understand that you are very angry!!!

Same here, this "little beast that can't be underestimated" has been one frustating journey. From day one. I've given up on this. Not because i don't believe in it. I just don't believe all these flaws will be delt with in a professional manner and in reasonable time. Gonna built my own little beast with Brainspawn Forte. Software that does work.

Nice alternative. When you build it, could you inform me on which components you used and which was total price and, more importantly, in which case are you planning to put it?

+1

i am building a second laptop with forte that i can leave at the rehearsal room.

- used thinkpad X41 (under 300 euros)
- used echo indigo pcmcia (under 70 euros)
- forte license (a little more than 100 euros)
- usb midi interface (30 euros)

this will rock almost as much as my primary thinkpad t60 with multiface...
:)

Yes, the case i'm not sure of yet. I have a 19" flightcase where a 2U case would fit in perfectly ,but i saw this one http://www.uberreview.com/wp-content/up ... lanbox.jpg and i like the idea of a portable "cat litter" which i can put on top of my 19" inch. But let's keep this thread v-machine related. For info about live set up's, check this out. http://www.brainspawn.com/forum/viewtop ... &sk=t&sd=a

When will the mac version of the vfx software be out? I can see "mid of february" on the site - does that mean mid of february 2010?

Unfortunately there's no way so far to load custom plugins as a mac user, which makes the v-machine as well as useless... I've been waiting now for over three months for the vfx mac release - any hope that it will still come at all?
