Hm... not to rush anything on this one, but... is there an update planned in the near future? Maybe with the new GUI and the possible changes I mentioned? (you know... default settings, tagging, etc).

sounds like rubytube??? someone needs to get new ears/monitors.
The tube saturator is pretty good.
The limiter does something amazing, although I don't think I've messed with it enough to really reign it in. It does something that I haven't heard a plugin do.

It sounds very similar to the Crysonic Spectraphy limiter. Practically the same.briefcasemanx wrote: The limiter does something amazing, although I don't think I've messed with it enough to really reign it in. It does something that I haven't heard a plugin do.

I also really like the maximizer. It tames big peaks in a very musical and useful way. Especially very transient heavy material gets treated nicely. However, it can get a bit fuzzy on material with lots of sustained notes and high average levels (like metal, rock or even symphonic music).
Cheers!

and then the onslaught of selective reading:
did I say it does?Urb Sergeant wrote:nope, doesn't sound like rubytube.
you should know better than to jump on stuff like that.bmanic wrote:umm.. agreed, it's not even close to rubytube.

well, kingston, going by your logic one could assume that every plug out there is "loosely reminiscent" of every other plug just because it has a GUI with a few buttons and sliders.
Just to get things clear;
exactly WHAT are you referring to when you're saying Tubedriver is "loosely reminiscent" of Rubytube? Is it the name?

the point being, I remember rubytube very well, as it used to be one of my favourite plugins back in the day. I has since been surpassed several times, as CPU requirements have been loosened up and we no longer have to resort to cheap waveshapers.Urb Sergeant wrote:Just to get things clear;

Despite the massive CPU hit (am I alone in thinking it's simply excessive, hence making the plug impractical?), this new one delivers a kind of dated "filtered waveshaper with bias" sound, just like rubytube, with one extra knob, to put it bluntly. Whether that means anything to anyone but myself, I tend to think the description a heavy negative.
I'll restrict any further criticism here in the name of fairness. It's an early alpha, and who knows what aces the developer might pull out of his sleeves in the future. Good luck and all.
