Got the answer. No x64
I'll keep a lookout, but other than guitar rig, x64 is just a no go in the amp sim market it seems (and yes, both revalver and TH1 were unstable for me)

I thought it had a 64-bit version because of the description on their website & the Kvr plugin database. So I emailed them about it, they got back pretty quickly saying that there's no 64-bit version yet but there will be. There's no confirmation of a date yet, hopefully it'll be soon .hibidy wrote:but is it x64?

Amplitube is x64 but I'm guessing your not listing it because maybe It's a bit unstable for you.

There will be a Mac version, no eta,Kim Olesen wrote:Will there be an AU version. If so what is the eta?
from what I understood it's a few months away.

I'll demo it tomorrow. Frankly, I'm really happy with the tone I get from AT, but not so much with the tude.
I have to use the x86 version of AT anyways.......I'm just slightly upset when they list "64 bit" versions of being compatible but it's not actually x64. Again slightly being the operative word (no reason to think I'm over-reacting
)

Happy to report I bought S-Gear yesterday, after very long testing.
It is the only ampsim right now that rivals my Marshall and MESA tube preamps both in tone and playing feel.
Check it out, this is serious stuff !
hibidy,
not exactly what you asked, but it works fine and stable in C6.02/32 in XP64.

I used it in a linux setup for an hour, and to my old ears, it sounds as goodsusiwong wrote:Happy to report I bought S-Gear yesterday, after very long testing.

and sometimes better than other products I like. Using it with linux rakarrack multi-fx
was a blast, the S-Gear sound is quite distinctive, with some nice user presets.
Cleans were super clean, and the rest fit their genres nicely.
Cheers

While that's certainly true, imho S-Gear shows its class best with the in-between sounds, all 3 amps have a wonderful, gradual transition from clean to crunchglokraw wrote:Cleans were super clean

After another hour, I give it even higher marks,
the sound has a refreshing realism when paired judiciously with fx.
I don't usually look for realism, and can't recognize name-brand tone,
but this sounds noticably good on its merits.
Cheers

I'll happily post it, but let me make a note that..blueman wrote:Interesting. Could we hear these results? Would you please PM me the patch if you saved it?zerocrossing wrote:I spent some time trying to replicate a tone I got with S-Gear's Marshall and I ended up with something that I liked even more. It's not really a fair fight because I was able to quickly get some room ambiance and a little post cab compression for some "oompfh" that I wasn't able to get with S-Gear. It's funny, the tone I became obsessed about replicating actually ended up sounding a bit flat compared to what I was able to get with Amplitube.
AmpliTube seems to sound really good on everything BUT Marshall for me.Incidentally, the new Soldano sounds more "Marshall" to me than the others. This I where S-Gear shines IMO. And...there's no Dumble in AT 3.5 so...for me, S-Gear is not a replacement but a PERFECT supplement to AmpliTube 3.x
The only Marshall I've ever owned is a late 80s solid state combo (though it was pretty kick ass if memory serves) The only tube amps I've owned are a Vox and a couple of Ampegs. I've done many tours of duty in music stores though. Even so, I'd be untrue if I said I was in expert in "nailing the Marshall sound" or even identifying it.
I didn't end up with a patch that sounded much like the S-Gear's. I got side tracked wondering why my default settings sounded so bad and just tried to get a good sound. I think I did nail it, but at surprisingly low gain and output settings.
Anyway, I got a tone I really liked, but I'd never swear "it sounds like a Marshall" though I have no idea of the S-Gear model does either. Frankly I don't really care about such things, I just care about getting something I liked. Once, I got a really great Billy Gibbons style sound using the Copperhead Vox model with a cranked input. As far as I know Billy's never used Voxes at all.
