I'm telling you, if Reaper was priced at $399. 00 there would be half as much complains.

Don't ask me why. Maybe because it would be in the hands of a more selected user base which would invest that amount after a more honest test drive and take responsibility for the investment.

At the current price tag + forever free demo, everyone is in. Good and Bad. Wishful and evangelistic.

The Reaper docking, besides the things you mention, isn't horrible. But there are issues with wasted/poor use of space, sizing issues when using multiple docks, inconsistent behaviors with the actual docking actions, etc. To me, the problem with a lot of docking systems is that you're docking windows that weren't really designed to go together in the interface.

Samp has adopted a docking system as well and tbh this is my experience with samp's docking....I could take it or leave it

Yeah, the Samplitude docking, while nice in theory, suffers the same fate as Reaper's, unfortunately.

Of course, people used Samplitude for years and years without docking without problem. So I can see that some people may just choose to ignore it.

(sorry, assuming you're agreeing with me)

This is something that usually doesn't happen in REAPER threads...

What chu talkin' bout willis? :hihi:

I don't think that a higher price for reaper would cut the complaints in half though. People would still bitch about the midi :hihi:

Did you ever take a look at the Cubase forums?? I would say the opposite is the case. The more a software costs, the more people expect from it, and the more annoyed they will get if something doesn't work as it should do. Btw, i don't think Reaper should be treated any different, just because it costs only 60 $ (for people not making a lot of money with their music, for those who do, or for people who use Reaper to run a business which does, it costs 225 $, maybe worth mentioning... :)).

You might have noticed that I do it that way ;)
Hopefully as the new PY-Daw tools are released,

Sometimes, they are both fun and informative.

I still say logic has the world's best and most usable gui. garageband not far behind.

Gui is a big deal to me.. not for looks, obviously.. i mean logic's not exactly pretty.. but for ergonomics and functionality and just "feeling" quick to work with.

This is the main reason, even after trying every highly rated skin known to man, that as of version 4.3 which was the last i tested, i still can't feel comfortable with reaper.

I am sure it's a very powerful program, with 9,000,000 options.
Theo, just to be clear...I'm not complaining about Samp's interface at all...in fact I love it, I just really dont care one way or tother about docking (AA's didn't excite me either) ;)

Reaper users started using real daws instead, that's why you don't see em anymore.
