Chromaphone would be my second.
I cannot explain, but Absynth has something purely magical. Some women are real beauty queens, but they don't have 'it'. Some are not even very pretty but they do have 'it'.
What's 'it'? I can't explain.
When it comes to synths, Absynth has 'it'.
Falcon can do much more, but it does not have 'it'. It's a date with an interesting intellectual talk.
Absynth is pure discovery, each time again...
Long live Absynth!

Well, it looks like the problem is polyphony. I have no experience with that patch, but I've gotten rid of that kind of problem more than once upping the polyphony on my own patches (which are the most rampant CPU consumers probably even possible). IE: it's an issue of too much math at one time for the CPU, not a bug. That thread does not demonstrate any bug, but one guy came away with that notion in the end, still.Melodyshine wrote:I have increased the polyphony but it doesn't change anything with the preset magnetic ambi.HanafiH wrote:That doesn't sound right to me. It sounds more like voice stealing because the polyphonic voice count is too low for the number of incoming notes. When a new note is needed the synth may click, as it steals a voice from the currently playing set, to cover the incoming note.Melodyshine wrote: It's a known issue, often caused by the effect "Pipe" and Native Instruments doesn't make an update.
A pipe effect could drastically extend the release time for every note, making a voice stealing glitch much more probable. Increase the number of voices if you can.

Don’t consume confuse absinthe with Absynth. This absolutely only happens to absentminded absolutists. It is absurd to think that abstract music can be made in the absence of Absynth. With the absence of Absynth one should abstain from obsessively (o!) making music. If this is too abstruse you are better off to work on your abs.
And if you abstain from demanding Absynth 6 I hope you get a tooth abscess.

Well said. If there's something I'd like updated, it's the filters. What's there is good for what they are, but can you imagine if they took the Monark models and added them to Absynth? Hell, put them, and all the new Reaktor models, in... and put them in Massive, while they're at it.ghettosynth wrote:it's filters are both cool, and shit at the same time,
Sadly, NI's business model seems to be Reaktor, Kontakt and Maschine based instruments. I still use the old synths. Why not? The reasons I got them in the first place are still valid. Could they use a touch up? Sure, but I'm not holding my breath. I will say that if NI thinks I'm going to upgrade to Komplete 12 from 8, they'd better do a decent update to at least one of those instruments. If not, I'm happy where I am and other developers will get my cash.

It is a bit dated now. I just wish they would actually finish Massive X first!egbert101 wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 1:32 pm Looking for modern alternatives to Absynth, that aren't a tiny GUI with zero updates. Any new recommendations?

Exactly. It still sounds amazing when layering with other synths, but seems a good time to put my energy into something new.Biome_Digital wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 2:13 pm It is a bit dated now. I just wish they would actually finish Massive X first!![]()

Plasmonic is by the original Absynth developer... you can see the visual similarity though it is quite a different synth.egbert101 wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 2:46 pmTwo good suggestions.Tone2 Icarus and PlasmonicGoing to research a bit more on both.

I think the only real lack Absynth presents is the size of the interface. WHY so damned small ?? You can fiddle with Resolution adjusting progs, but the thing should be able to be scaled to full screen (my opinion), but NI has ignored this ever since they released this terrific Synth.

Hi,
Here are some news coming from Brian Clevinger at Rhizomatic, the original developer of Absynth. The project could have a rebirth outside of the NI ecosystem ! Read his statement from link below :

The article ends with a video where Brian talks about the situation, followed by some music he made with Absynth :
