Of course not. It's a completely different synth architecture.

The final version looks quite similar to me from my first tests compared to the latest betas.highkoo wrote:So how is 1.0 on the CPU compared to the betas?
Using a prehistoric Athlon64+, I did lots of sound designing for Spectral and as long as we don't talk slow pads, fast melodies and full chords, this beast can handle more than one simultaneous track even on my ancient computer.
As soon as pads and big chords are involved, the air gets thin very quick (CPU overload, stutter, freezing).
Feel the energy...

Thats just 2% disappointing, but I agree it is very usable. Although I dont know if I would feel that way if I were on an Athlon 64.HiEnergy wrote:The final version looks quite similar to me from my first tests compared to the latest betas.highkoo wrote:So how is 1.0 on the CPU compared to the betas?
It can chow cpu when its crankin.
I havent really used it enough to get a feel. But Ive used a few instances at a time and it really got hungry.
My latest track on SoundCloud has three or four instances of Spectral in it if anyone is interested. It also has Beyonce though, so its not like a demo or anything.

I've tested a bit on my i7 Macbook Pro. I'd say it's manageable. For sounds with long release, I often need to reduce the # of voices down to 8 or even 4 in some extreme cases. For sounds with more moderate envelopes, no problems.highkoo wrote:So how is 1.0 on the CPU compared to the betas?
This is to be expected with a cutting edge synth based on an additive structure, I think.
And the sound is wonderful!

Notwithstanding the different structure, Rob Papen would never have accepted a new LinPlug synth that could load his patches…TheoM wrote:Thanks, I wasn't sure as haven't really investigated what its about at this stage. But I got a ridiculous offer in my inbox so will demo it tonight.Spitfire31 wrote:Right.TheoM wrote:This can't read Albino presets right?

PS You don't even have to demo it. I hadn't planned on getting into Spectral (too many mostly unused HD warmers as is) but the offer is a nobrainer and I'm glad I took it up. Spectral may become one of my go-tos (and I can forget about Nemesis and that stupid video)

This is very generous from Linplug. I've been very upset I have Albino but never use it anymore and can't sell it...
Absolute deal.

Thank you Peter! And the team and the rest of the sound designers.
