While Omnisphere 2 looks indeed impressive i persoanlyl like having a collection of dedicated synths for certain tasks (e.g. VA, wavetable synthesis, FM, additive etc.).
My personal experience is that synths that try to offer everything usually lack in certain features when compared to another synth that is focused on that feature (e.g. wavetable synthesis).
As someone who owns a bunch of wavetable synths (and i mean "real" wavetable scanning...), i am quite sure i would not need Omnisphere just for that feature (while other features of Omni 2 could be interesting).
I am also a bit worried about the CPU use and the HUGE necessary space for the sample library.
Actually i fear that if i would try to make full use of Omnisphere 2 i would have to pucrhase a new PC with faster CPU and more RAM.
While my current PC is already quite old i could run most of my plugins nicely so far (and i am not just using old plugins...).
Last but not least Omni 2 is quite expensive (at least compared to other plugins) while i understand that the price is also based on the huge presets and sample library. Anyway i guess i would have to sell a bunch of my current synths to buy both Omni 2 and maybe also a new PC.
Besides all those concerns Onisphere 2 looks very interesting and powerful indeed (actually a lot more interesting than the previous version).

But they do have distributors around the world. So all one needs to do is pickup some retail space, spend a few hundred grand on renos, get a few hundred grand in inventory, apply to the distributor to become a dealer and voila, you have Omnisphere at wholesale!trimph1 wrote:Which, as the last two quoted, they do not have any dealers.recursive one wrote:See heremidi sentinel wrote:What is the source of that information?recursive one wrote:Apparently, only for the upgrade.aMUSEd wrote:afaik there's going to be a download option tooSo if one doesn't have Omisphere a boxed verison still has to be bought first

Well, I found a dealer in Moscow (Audio Solutions), Omnispheres must be in stock by the end of February (hope Rouble won't drop twice again by this time)

Oh well, there goes that summer vacation trip me and my better half was planing! (ssshyy...don't tell her
)
Omni 2 looks just insane! I never had the first one but this is gonna be an instant purchase for me (and everyone else I reckon).
I'll get this and then quit my day job. I won't have time for it anymore with all these features and 10.000+ presets

It's hardly huge - I have 8TB of storage on my PC, backed up to another 8TB of hard drives.Ingonator wrote:While Omnisphere 2 looks indeed impressive i persoanlyl like having a collection of dedicated synths for certain tasks (e.g. VA, wavetable synthesis, FM, additive etc.).

As someone who owns a bunch of wavetable synths (and i mean "real" wavetable scanning...), including the new Nave plugin Beta, i am quite sure i would not need Omnisphere for that feature.

If you can afford to buy Omnisphere 2, you can afford to upgrade your PC, and there is no evidence anywhere that Omnisphere 2 will be using more CPU than Omnisphere...

While my current PC is already quite old i could run most of my plugins nicely so far (and i am not just using old plugins...).
But it costs more because it has such a large sample library - and I can now buy it for the same price as Omnisphere, due to the free upgrade path - that's pretty amazing. I can buy Omnisphere now for £289, knowing that I will get Omnisphere 2 for no extra cost when it's released.Last but not least Omni 2 is quite expensive (at least compared to other plugins) while i understand that the price is also based on the huge presets and sample library. Well, I have to say that despite being very impressed, two things about the video really irritated me - the 'dubstep' 'wobble' 'EDM' sounds (which I hate, wherevere I hear them), and the lack of tripod use for the video of Eric... Why do companies (and that includes television companies) think it's acceptable to have somebody holding a video camera with their hand, instead of using a tripod, nowadays?Besides all those concerns Onisphere 2 looks very interesting and powerful indeed (actually a lot more interesting than the previous version).

To me, it seems that this is only possible to the integrated soundsources and I highly doubt, there are possibilities for multi sample import at the moment (at least there are no images showing any sample mapping (which would be essential for multisample import) anywhere...)...Spip wrote:Take a look at image 28/30. If so, then sample import is nearly useless other than for the more extrem manglers like the granular engine... means, again to be stuck with the internal soundsources ....
If it wouldn´t be from Spectrasonics, you guys would shoot any other developer down in flames for such a half baken feature implementation in nowadays...
Always funny to see this behaviour here

Sample import useless? Weird logic...if I need a sampler, I'd choose Kontakt or use Live's Sampler, but here I'm looking forward to the endless possiblities of mangling sounds with that Omni engine.Trancit wrote:To me, it seems that this is only possible to the integrated soundsources and I highly doubt, there are possibilities for multi sample import at the moment (at least there are no images showing any sample mapping (which would be essential for multisample import) anywhere...)...Spip wrote:Take a look at image 28/30. I wonder how many presets, out of the 3000 new ones, are EDM/wobble/dubstep. That's a major reason why I wouldn't pay for the Upgrade…basslinemaster wrote:

Also this software's sound concept seems to have changed a lot during these 10+ years, if we compare Omnisphere 2 to what Atmosphere was set out to be.
10.000+? Omnisphere 1 had 5000+, the new one has 3000 new so that makes about 8000+.K-Bee wrote:I won't have time for it anymore with all these features and 10.000+ presets

Does anybody know much would Omnisphere cost if bought in a German shop?
I guess, EUR 399 as announced on their page does not include VAT? Or it does?
I live outside of Europe , but my friend in Germany could by a boxed Omnisphere for me.
