No, and I would not. The SE label scares me off.

Hmmm, I quite like that Mr.Ray. Very clever.

I just a/b Mr Ray with Fruity Keys

(now that should be super effective code wise no?)
couldn't get any more native.

and apart from MrRay making Fruity Keys look like a happy meal the cpu is not that much more, and well worth it for that sound.

High CPU usage in SE is mainly a problem with 3rd party modules and bad connections. Not a problem with SE itself. In fact i recently started a mini website where I'm gonna post some ideas that I have on how to improve connections. Here it is:

www.majken.se/synthedit

Supposedly my SE creations have low CPU usage, for anyone that wanna check it out for themselves my latest work in progress is SubDuer:

Ohh.. I stole the thread! ;)

I just a/b again this time

(my) ChordworX free inside XT>FL demo
Toby's Chordator inside XT>Fl demo

AMD 2000+ (asio 4 all)

Chordator 4%
ChordworX free 5%

the latter has built in arp so the 1% is worth it.

Sorry, Ian, should have shared the love. Although I have talked you up plenty on several occasions in the past. I think I like EZ better Than EZ Poly, if for no other reason than those creepy eyes blinking at me.

Cheers,
Steve

ez poly it's one of the sweetest...period.

(though soloing with ez is veeeery funky...)

GreenMachineII it's a great tool, but it's overpriced, imo.
I can buy a V-Amp with those bucks, maybe less sexy, but "real". (oh my, sayin' it for an amp-sim!)

FWIW: I don't have anything against SE creations.
Whether they use more CPU power or not isn't of much interest with nowadays machines (at least not for me).

However, what I wanted to say: SE has caused a revolution!
Not only that you can now build your own VSTis if you dive a bit into modular synthesis (or better: signal flow design), not only that there's TONS of (sometimes rather nice) freebies around... No, the main thing is that it had made other companies think about their pricing policies! Or, as an alternative, companies will now have to release something REALLY good. Just releasing another 2-3 Osc, single filter, 2-3 LFO synth simply won't work anymore, at least not if you expect to make some money´- there will allways be some SE creation being just as good for free (plus tons of more innovative sound design things).

And that's the best thing about SE, if you ask me.

The only downside: No platform compatibility. Unfortunately these days I have to do some of my work on a Mac and it's a shame that I'm missing some of the nice SE creations (and other Win-only VSTs).
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I read in a thread here a few months ago that you could use PC vst's on a mac using Chainer as access through a network, but I fail to recall how the person described the rig.

Anyone remember that post, or better yet, have you tried it?

And unfortunately, I also remember hearing devopment on Chainer has ceased..bummer if true.

hey Sascha

if ever you want any of my stuff just ask.

A common mistake is to use a lot of VCA modules instead of using only one, and use Level Adjust for the rest.
